So, I was rewatching Return of the Jedi, and there are these tiny details that totally slipped past me until recently.
Some of them are surprisingly funny, and honestly, they add a little something to those epic scenes. Let me break them down for you – maybe you missed them too.

Vader’s Saber Blooper in the Final Duel
You know the intense duel scene between Luke and Vader – it’s one of the all-time highlights of Return of the Jedi.
But there’s this hilarious little slip-up that makes the whole thing a bit less perfect in hindsight.
When Vader tosses his lightsaber at Luke, the blade is actually on the wrong side! Yeah, if you look close, it’s like Vader’s lightsaber is backwards or something.
It’s a tiny production error, but once you see it, it’s hard to unsee. I like to think it adds a little human touch to the movie – like, even in the middle of galactic battles, a blooper slips through.
The Crowd-Surfing Stormtrooper
Okay, so this one had me doing a double take. At the end, when everyone’s celebrating on Coruscant, there’s a stormtrooper literally crowd-surfing.
Seriously. Among all these people going nuts after the Empire’s fall, you see this trooper getting carried by the crowd.
I have no idea what’s happening with him – did he just get swept up by accident? Did he have a change of heart and join in?
We’ll never know, but it’s weirdly funny seeing a stormtrooper go from Empire enforcer to party prop in a heartbeat. Adds a bit of chaotic charm to the whole scene, if you ask me.
Take a look at 1:19 of the video below and you’ll see what I meant.
That Jedi Temple and Senate Building Cameo
This one’s a bit more subtle, but I feel like it’s a cool nod for anyone paying attention. In the Coruscant celebration scene, Lucas decided to throw in the Jedi Temple and the Senate building in the background when he updated the film in 2004.
You can see the Senate at 1:15 and Jedi Temple at 1:24 in the background of the video below.
These two buildings totally connect back to the prequels, where they symbolize the old Republic and the Jedi Order.
It’s like a tiny tribute to the history of the galaxy, right there in Return of the Jedi. To me, it gives the celebration scene a bit more weight, especially after watching the prequels.
Those buildings standing there are a reminder of what came before, and I think it ties the whole saga together in this subtle way.
So, those are the little things you might’ve missed. They’re small, but I think they make rewatching Return of the Jedi even more fun.
