I Find It Interesting That Force Speed Is Rarely Used by Jedi. So, I Looked Into It & Discovered Five Occasions Where This Power Was Used

Force Speed, a power that enhances the user’s sprinting ability, is a fascinating aspect of the Force.

One of the most vivid instances in the Star Wars movies is when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan employ it to evade the Droidekas.

But what if there were more instances where Force users wielded Force Speed in battle?

Here, we’ll explore five occasions where this power was clearly used on screen.

So, without further delay, let’s dive in…

Anakin Uses Forces Speed to Catching Up with Ahsoka

In the second episode of Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 2, Cad Bane attempts to sell a stolen holocron to the Separatists.

Meanwhile, Anakin and Ahsoka are on a mission to retrieve it. Once they discover Cad Bane’s location, Anakin, Ahsoka, and their 501st Clone Troopers prepare to confront him and recover the holocron.

Cad Bane, backed by his droids, resists their efforts. He even activates a gravity generator, causing Anakin and his Troopers to float in the air.

A few seconds later, Ahsoka instructs R2-D2 to turn off the gravity generator. This causes Anakin to fall to the ground, struggling to get up.

As Cad Bane tries to escape, Ahsoka pursues him, determined not to let him get away.

Anakin uses Force Speed to try and catch up, but he can’t keep pace with Ahsoka. Perhaps Anakin didn’t have enough time to meditate and focus his Force power.

Anakin Uses Force Speed to Save Obi-Wan From Dooku

In Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, we witness Anakin using Force Speed. During a face-off between Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Count Dooku, Anakin’s anger flares up due to Dooku’s past actions of killing numerous Jedi.

Ignoring Obi-Wan’s advice to fight together, Anakin rushes towards Count Dooku. As a result, Dooku uses his Force Lightning to electrocute Anakin, leaving him unconscious for a few minutes. This leaves Obi-Wan to face Dooku alone.

Unfortunately, Obi-Wan is no match for Dooku, who easily gains the upper hand. Just as Dooku is about to deliver a fatal blow to Obi-Wan, Anakin regains consciousness.

Anakin then uses a combination of Force Speed and Force Jump to leap towards Dooku, blocking the attack that could have killed Obi-Wan.

Anakin Uses Force Speed during the battle with Obi-Wan on Mustafar

Among the most epic battles in Star Wars is the one that takes place on Mustafar between Obi-Wan and Anakin.

Obi-Wan enters the battle with the intention of bringing Anakin back to his normal self, but his efforts prove unsuccessful.

In the midst of their fight, both Obi-Wan and Anakin simultaneously use Force Push, resulting in both of them being pushed away from each other.

In a bid to regain the upper hand, Anakin skillfully merges Force Jump and Force Speed to vault over the room’s central table. He then uses this table as a springboard to launch a swift attack on Obi-Wan.

Qui-Gon Jin and Obi-Wan Use Force Speed to Esacpe the Droidekas

Many Star Wars fans, including myself, believe that the first demonstration of Force Speed on the big screen is by Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

After skillfully evading the droids in the waiting area, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan set their sights on the Trade Federation leaders. Qui-Gon uses his lightsaber in an attempt to melt down the door.

However, their progress is interrupted when the Droidekas arrive on the scene, attempting to take down Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan with a barrage of blaster shots.

Normally, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan could use the Droidekas’ own blaster beams against them by deflecting the shots.

However, the Droidekas are equipped with shield generators, making this strategy ineffective.

Realizing that deflecting the blasters won’t work, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan use Force Speed to quickly leave the scene.

Mace Windu Uses Force Speed Amongs the Battle Droids

Another instance of a Jedi using Force Speed comes from a series that is now considered part of Legends.

This occurs in ‘Star Wars: Clone Wars,’ a series developed and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.

In a memorable scene, Mace Windu finds himself encircled by hundreds, if not thousands, of Battle Droids.

In the face of the vast number of droids, Windu strives to eliminate as many as possible.

Yet, the sheer volume of droids is too overwhelming. At this point, Windu resorts to using Force Speed. His movements become so swift that the droids can’t keep up with the Jedi Master.
