I absolutely love Star Wars. It’s given us some of the most iconic action scenes ever put on screen. But sometimes, the action misses the mark so badly that it breaks the immersion or makes us cringe.
Today, I’m highlighting five of the weakest action scenes from Star Wars—moments that were awkward, slow, or just didn’t make sense. You’ve probably noticed these too, so let’s get right in.
Table of Contents
1. The Shooting Scene with the Mods
First up, we have to talk about that infamous shooting scene involving the Mods in The Book of Boba Fett. Star Wars action can definitely be flashy, but this scene took things too far. During the battle, Black Krrsantan was fighting alone against an ambush by the Pyke Syndicate. He took multiple hits and was clearly injured.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the Mods arrived to help. Skad and Drash rushed in to assist, and what should have been a badass rescue moment quickly turned stiff and awkward. The unnatural movements and overly dramatic choreography completely pulled me out of the scene, making it memorable for all the wrong reasons.
2. The Mod Scooter Chase
Another scene we can’t overlook is the Mod scooter chase from The Book of Boba Fett. This one felt particularly off because the brightly colored, Vespa-like scooters the Mods rode didn’t match the gritty, rugged feel of Tatooine at all. The chase scene itself moved at an oddly slow pace—so slow, in fact, that some critics even called it “positively geriatric.”
Watching it, I couldn’t help but feel distracted by how out-of-place these flashy scooters looked, almost as if they’d been taken from an entirely different franchise. Moments like this break our immersion and remind us that not every experimental choice in Star Wars lands well.
3. Reva’s Rooftop Chase
Speaking of chase scenes, The Book of Boba Fett gave us that awkward scooter chase, and then the Obi-Wan Kenobi series delivered another strange pursuit. If you recall, there’s a moment when Reva is chasing Obi-Wan and little Leia across the rooftops. The chase itself isn’t bad—in fact, it’s pretty intense. But what makes it odd is Reva’s exaggerated parkour moves. Her flashy movements felt completely unnecessary, taking away from the urgency of the moment. Some jumps were simple enough that she could have easily cleared them without any extra flips or rolls. Honestly, I think if Reva hadn’t wasted her time showing off her parkour skills, she probably would have caught up to Obi-Wan in time.
4. Boba Fett Forgot He Had a Jetpack
Next, we’ve got a moment that genuinely made me question Boba Fett’s legendary skills: the scene from episode 1 of The Book of Boba Fett when he’s ambushed by a group of attackers using energy shields. To refresh your memory, Boba and Fennec Shand were walking openly through Mos Espa when they were suddenly surrounded by assassins holding glowing shields, who formed a tight circle around them. Instead of immediately jetting upward with his fully functional jetpack—something we’ve seen him do countless times before—Boba stood there awkwardly, trying to break through the shields and taking a completely unnecessary beating.
5. Leia’s Forest Chase Was Unintentionally Hilarious
Another scene we can’t overlook is the chase involving young Leia in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. If you remember, Leia is playing in the forest when she’s suddenly confronted by three bounty hunters trying to capture her. Instead of a quick, intense scene showcasing the urgency of the threat, we got Leia slowly jogging through the woods while the kidnappers awkwardly stumbled behind, bumping into branches, tripping over logs, and inexplicably slowing down just enough for Leia to keep escaping. It honestly looked like a game of tag rather than a life-threatening pursuit.
Watching trained bounty hunters fail to catch a child who wasn’t even running particularly fast turned what should’ve been suspenseful into something unintentionally funny. I still can’t believe this actually made it into the final cut.
