Commander Doom Directly Based Off Of Doctor Doom. Here’s 4 More Fascinating Inspirations!

Did you ever observe that some of the clone troopers from the Star Wars series have armors and names that draw inspiration from characters across various series?

Let’s delve into four instances where Clone Troopers were influenced by different characters.

Commander Doom Inpired by Dr.Doom

Commander Doom

Commander Doom, a character from ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’, is notably influenced by the famous Marvel villain, Doctor Doom.

This inspiration is reflected in both his name and the design of his uniform.

Commander Doom served under Jedi Generals Tiplee and Tiplar during the Battle of Ringo Vinda in the Clone Wars.

Commander Doom led a group of clone troopers, who set themselves apart with their green armor and a yellow triangle representing their unit.

Unlike most clones who applied vibrant colors over their white armor, Commander Doom chose to paint his base armor gray before adding green patterns.

His armor features a green kama (a type of skirt or apron), a visor, and a brown belt.

The helmet and visor are also green, with the exception of the front face of the helmet, which remains white.

This unique color scheme and design make him a distinct figure on the battlefield as a clone commander.

Commander Thorn A Clone Inpired by Thor: God of Thunder

Commander Thorn

Commander Thorn is a character from “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” who is inspired by Thor, the God of Thunder from Marvel Comics. This inspiration is evident in both his name and his unique armor design.

Commander Thorn served as a clone shock trooper in the Galactic Republic’s Coruscant Guard during the Clone Wars.

Thorn was armed with a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon, which he named “Hammer,” reminiscent of Thor’s iconic weapon, Mjolnir.

His armor is painted red and features wings on his helmet, a unique design not seen on any other clone troopers.

These wings, combined with his name “Thorn,” reveal that the Commander was inspired by Thor, who famously wears a winged helmet.

Appo a Reference of Appa

Appo

Another Clone Trooper Commander draws inspiration from a character in a different series.

Appo is inspired by Appa from ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’.

This inspiration is clearly seen in his helmet design, which showcases a white arrow extending from the back to the front.

Also known as CC-1119, Commander Appo served as a clone shock trooper in the Coruscant Guard of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars.

He participated in several key battles and was recognized for his unwavering loyalty and obedience.

The white arrow on Appo’s helmet directly references Appa, Avatar Aang’s cherished sky bison pet in ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’.

The Air Nomads, the tribe to which Aang belongs, adorned themselves with tattoos resembling the arrow markings on the fur of sky bison, considered to be the original Airbenders.

Beyond their similar names and matching arrows, Appa and Appo share a connection through the voice actor Dee Bradley Baker, who portrayed both characters.

This link between ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ pays homage to their common creative team, including director Dave Filoni.

Goji a Reference of Godzilla

Goji

Goji is a clone trooper whose name is a nod to Godzilla. ‘Goji’ is essentially a shortened version of ‘Gojira’, the Japanese name for Godzilla.

His helmet is distinctively customized with the image of a green creature with yellow eyes, unmistakably referencing Godzilla.

Serving as a clone trooper pilot in the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars, Goji played a crucial role in the Battle of Malastare.

Piloting a Y-wing starfighter, he was tasked with deploying the electro-proton bomb, an experimental weapon that ultimately led to the Republic’s victory.
