We all know how much Boba Fett despised Mace Windu for killing his father, Jango Fett.
In fact, he spent much of his early life trying to get revenge on Windu, as we saw in The Clone Wars series.
Although Boba never succeeded, Mace Windu eventually met his end when Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader.
But have you ever wondered—did Darth Vader ever tell Boba what really happened to Windu?
Let’s dive in and find out.
Vader’s Reluctance to Discuss His Past
Darth Vader is not known for talking about his past—especially his former life as a Jedi. By the time of The Empire Strikes Back, Vader had fully embraced his Sith identity and buried any connection to his past as Anakin.
Mace Windu’s death was tied directly to Vader’s transformation and the beginning of his service to Emperor Palpatine.
Revealing the details of that moment would have forced Vader to confront memories of his former self, something he avoided at all costs.
Moreover, Vader didn’t have many personal conversations with anyone, let alone with Boba Fett, a hired bounty hunter.
As we see throughout the original trilogy, Vader preferred to keep interactions short and professional, even with those he worked with frequently.
He spoke only when necessary and rarely divulged personal information, especially about his days as a Jedi.
When Vader dealt with Boba, their interactions were always business-focused. There was no chit-chat, no idle conversation—everything was about the job at hand.
Vader told Boba what he needed to do, and Boba’s only concern was how many credits he would receive once he successfully completed the bounty.
Their relationship was strictly transactional, with no room for personal details or stories from the past.
Does Boba Fett Know What Happened to Mace Windu?
We can’t deny the intense hatred Boba Fett holds for Mace Windu, especially after witnessing Windu brutally kill his father, Jango Fett, right in front of him.
For a young Boba, that moment was devastating, and it shaped much of his early life.
In The Clone Wars series, we see just how far Boba was willing to go to get revenge on Windu.
Despite failed attempts, including a destructive explosion meant to end Windu’s life, Boba remained determined to take him down.
What’s clear is that Boba didn’t just want Windu dead—he wanted to see it with his own eyes as if that was the only way to satisfy his need for vengeance.
His desire to personally confirm Windu’s death is a testament to just how deeply he hated the Jedi Master, likely as much as he loved and admired his father.
However, after these attempts in The Clone Wars, we don’t see any further moments where Boba is actively trying to hunt down Mace Windu.
It’s possible that Boba Fett learned about Mace Windu’s fate during Order 66.
Being a clone himself, like the other clone troopers, he likely had some understanding of the events surrounding the fall of the Jedi.
By that time, the galaxy knew the Jedi had been wiped out, and it’s reasonable to assume Boba would have heard about Windu’s death through the same channels.
If Boba hadn’t learned about Windu’s demise, it’s almost certain he would have continued his pursuit.
Knowing Boba Fett, who exacted relentless revenge for the deaths of the Tusken Raiders that took him in, it’s unimaginable that he would simply let go of the desire for vengeance against the one that killed his father.
From this point on, the storyline shifts, and Boba’s personal vendetta seems to fade into the background as he carves out his own path as a bounty hunter, focusing on building his reputation and securing his future.
