As Andor Season 2 approaches, Diego Luna urges fans to rewatch Rogue One the moment the credits roll. “Plug it in as soon as the season ends,” he tells SFX Magazine. “You’re going to see it differently, with so much information you didn’t have before.”

Andor was always meant to lead directly into Rogue One, with showrunner Tony Gilroy confirming the finale ends just before the film begins. Luna believes this added context will reframe everything: “You knew nothing about this bunch of Rebels who made that sacrifice, and then we did 24 episodes about one of them.”

The show has answered questions fans didn’t even know to ask — like who Cassian’s mother was, what droid meant the most to him (it’s B2EMO), and what his life looked like before the rebellion. Even throwaway moments in Rogue One now carry emotional weight. “You’ve seen enough of this man now that you’ll go, ‘Holy shit, that’s what he meant?’” Luna says.

While Luna is confident about the impact, Gilroy is more reserved. “I’ve been timid about going back to it,” he admits, but agrees that Andor will “very deeply” change how viewers see Cassian.

Some fans are already planning their rewatches — and Luna’s comments just made that decision even easier.
