Disney+ Has Confirmed That the Infamous Jabba the Hutt Will Be Returning for Season Two of Ashoka

With Ahsoka Season 2 officially in development, the Star Wars community is buzzing with theories and rumors. 

Many beloved characters are expected to return, including Ezra Bridger. There’s even playful speculation about the return of Jabba the Hutt.

Of course, we all know Jabba the Hutt’s fate, so his return is unlikely. 

However, the idea of Jabba’s return is reminiscent of a humorous moment involving Ezra.

The Return of Ezra “Jabba the Hutt”

If you have watched the Star Wars: Rebels series, you definitely know how Ezra sacrificed himself to save his friends from Admiral Thrawn. 

In the episode “Family Reunion – and Farewell,” Ezra makes the ultimate sacrifice to save his friends and the Rebel Alliance. 

He uses the Purrgil, hyperspace-capable creatures, to pull Grand Admiral Thrawn’s fleet into hyperspace, taking Thrawn and himself to an unknown part of the galaxy. 

For years, Ezra Bridger’s fate remained one of the biggest mysteries in Star Wars. Fans have been waiting for answers ever since he and Thrawn vanished into hyperspace at the end of Rebels.

Now, with Ahsoka, we finally see what happened to him. After years stranded in another galaxy, Ezra makes his long-awaited return to his friends and allies.

Ezra Bridger has always had a knack for quick thinking and humor, and one of his most iconic moments comes in Rebels during the episode “Spark of Rebellion.”

When Ezra is captured by Imperial forces, they demand to know his name. Without missing a beat, he smirks and responds with “Jabba the Hutt.” It’s a clever way to hide his identity while also mocking the Imperials, turning what could have been a tense situation into a classic Ezra moment.

So while we won’t be seeing the real Jabba the Hutt in Ahsoka Season 2, we can still appreciate the playful spirit of Ezra’s joke. Even the official Star Wars Twitter (now X) has had fun with this joke.

But Ezra’s “Jabba the Hutt” alias didn’t stop there. One of the best callbacks to this joke happens in Twilight of the Apprentice when he encounters Maul on the ancient Sith world of Malachor. As they form an uneasy alliance to unlock the Sith Holocron, Maul introduces himself and asks Ezra for his name—and once again, Ezra just casually says, “Jabba the Hutt.”

At this point, it’s basically his go-to nickname, and honestly, it fits him perfectly.
