Do Ewoks Eat People?

Do Ewoks Eat People?

I get it – the idea of Ewoks eating people sounds wild, but there’s some surprisingly strong evidence from Star Wars canon and a few hints in other media that make you wonder if these little guys might actually go there.

When we first see them in Return of the Jedi, they seem adorable, but beneath the cute exterior, there’s a survival-driven edge.

So let’s go over a few points that might make you think twice about Ewoks’ appetite for, well, unconventional cuisine.

That Time Ewoks Almost Cooked the Rebels

Remember the scene in Return of the Jedi where Luke, Han, and Chewie get captured by Ewoks? They’re all trussed up and ready to be roasted on a spit over an open fire.

To the Ewoks, they’re basically preparing a banquet in honor of C-3PO, who they believe is some kind of god.

Now, would they actually eat them? Honestly, it looks like they would have. There’s no sign of hesitation in prepping a nice human BBQ.

If Luke hadn’t convinced them with a bit of Force magic, the Rebels might’ve ended up as the main course.

So yeah, Ewoks aren’t exactly shy about cooking people up when they need to celebrate. To them, food is food, and they don’t seem too picky about what, or who, it might be.

Ewoks Are Omnivores and Natural Hunters

Ewoks are omnivores, which means they’re not just eating berries and fish – they’ve got a taste for meat, too.

These little hunters are pros at making do with what’s around, whether that’s small animals, birds, or the occasional boar-wolf. And Ewoks are serious hunters, too.

They’ve got spears, poison darts, slings, and all sorts of traps. We even see them bringing down stormtroopers with rocks and logs during the Battle of Endor.

So if they’re hungry, or they just won a big battle and feel like celebrating, they’re probably not going to think twice about using whatever meat they can find.

Honestly, if you’re a stormtrooper or stranded Rebel, and you end up on the wrong side of the Ewoks’ victory feast, well… good luck.

So, What’s the Deal with Leia’s Dress?

At first glance, Leia’s dress on Endor in Return of the Jedi just seems like a nice gesture. But the more you think about it, the more it feels unsettling.

There’s this theory that the dress could have belonged to someone who didn’t make it off Endor.

Some fans wonder if the Ewoks had found the dress from a past… let’s say “meal” and then passed it along to Leia.

Knowing they were ready to roast Han and Luke, it’s not out of the question that the dress could have come from a prior “guest.”

If you’re interested in diving deeper into the eerie theories around Leia’s dress, I’ve got an article on it called THIS is WHY Princess Leia’s Dress is DISTURBING! 😳.

The article also covers canon explanations from Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, which implies the Ewoks probably made the dress themselves as a friendly gesture.

Ewoks as Hunters, Not Just “Cute and Cuddly”

For anyone who’s played Star Wars Battlefront II, the Ewoks are actually terrifying when they want to be.

There’s a mode called “Ewok Hunt” where you’re stuck on Endor at night, and a bunch of Ewoks are hunting you down while you try to survive.

It’s actually pretty intense – Ewoks jumping out of the trees, setting traps, and ambushing from the shadows.

This game mode leans hard into the idea that Ewoks are pretty hardcore when they’re on a mission, and it’s easy to see how they could take down just about anyone if they’re desperate enough.

So, while Battlefront is just a game, it’s based on the fact that Ewoks have that side to them. They’re not exactly innocent forest creatures – they’re resourceful, efficient, and tough.

If they have to fight to survive, I’d bet they wouldn’t hold back from using any and every resource, including a little meat from fallen enemies.

So… Do Ewoks Eat People?

Okay, here’s the thing—there’s a story in Star Wars Tales #14 that really makes me think the Ewoks weren’t just roasting people for fun. The dialogue in this comic pretty much spells it out.

There’s this former stormtrooper sitting in a bar, and he’s just traumatized from the Battle of Endor.

He says the Ewoks didn’t just hunt them down—they ate them. Like, full-on “ritualistically devouring them to take their spirit” levels of brutal.

The SHOCKING Reason Why the Ewoks Ate Stormtroopers

And honestly? It tracks. I mean, we already saw them trying to cook Han and Luke like a barbecue special in Return of the Jedi.

If Leia hadn’t pulled off her golden god diplomacy with C-3PO, those guys would’ve been dinner.

So, yeah, when this guy in the story says his buddy’s remains were left in a puddle after the Ewoks “took their strength,” I’m not even surprised. Creeped out? Sure. But surprised? Nope.

The story even describes how the Ewoks used drums all night to freak out the stormtroopers before they pounced.

The stormtroopers, who have been through literal wars, were so terrified they couldn’t function.

And honestly, hearing about this guy watching his squad get picked off one by one like some horror movie? It’s enough to make you rethink calling the Ewoks “cute little teddy bears.”

Those little warriors did what they had to, and I wouldn’t want to end up on the wrong side of their dinner plans.
