One of the most powerful moments in The Clone Wars is seeing Rex try to hold himself together when Order 66 begins. So how was Rex able to resist Order 66 long enough to not immediately shoot Ahsoka?

Rex Managed to Warn Ahsoka Because of Fives

The reason Rex was able to warn Ahsoka starts long before Order 66 itself. Earlier in The Clone Wars, Fives discovered the truth about the inhibitor chips placed inside the clones’ brains. He realized they were not just some harmless control measure, but something that could be used to force the clones to betray the Jedi. Fives tried to bring that information to Rex and Anakin, but before he could fully expose the conspiracy, Palpatine had him branded as dangerous and silenced.

Even though Fives died before he could make everyone understand what he had found, the incident clearly stayed with Rex.
