How Many People Did C-3PO Kill?

How Many People Did C-3PO Kill?

When we think of C-3PO, we usually picture the nervous golden droid always complaining about danger and wishing he was anywhere else. But here’s the thing: he actually has a kill count. It’s not huge, but it’s more than you’d expect from a protocol droid built for etiquette and translation. Let’s go through it step by step.

The First One: Big Hayzu

The earliest death tied to C-3PO happened in The Clone Wars. I remember the scene where he was in another one of his classic arguments with R2-D2. Things got a little physical, and 3PO ended up slapping R2. That small move made R2 topple right over onto a man named Big Hayzu, crushing him and killing him.

What makes this even stranger is how the people around reacted. They saw Hayzu’s death as a good thing and treated C-3PO like some kind of hero for it. Meanwhile, C-3PO wasn’t built for this kind of action at all, and he clearly felt awful. But whether he meant to or not, that was his first confirmed kill.

The Battle Kill In Rebels

Later on, in Star Wars Rebels, we get another example. This one is very different from the accident with Hayzu. In this story, C-3PO was caught up in a fight against the Empire. He actually helped move explosives under an AT-DP walker. When the bomb went off, the walker was destroyed, and both Imperial pilots inside were killed.

This wasn’t an accident. He was directly part of the action, helping set up an attack that ended in deaths. It’s not that he suddenly turned into a fighter, but it showed that when circumstances pulled him into a battle, he could still play a role in taking down enemies.

The Deleted Scene With The Wampa

There’s also a cut moment from The Empire Strikes Back. During the evacuation of Echo Base, C-3PO ripped a “Danger” sign off a door without knowing what was behind it. That room actually had a wampa locked inside. Later, when snowtroopers came through and opened the door, one of them was dragged inside and never came back out.

This one is a bit different. C-3PO didn’t directly kill the trooper, but his action of removing the warning led to the man’s death. Even if it was unintentional, it still adds to his unusual record.

Bonus: The “Legends” Mass Kill

There’s also a wild story from Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures Volume 4 (a Legends comic from 2005) that takes C-3PO’s accidental destruction to another level.

On the Outer Rim world of Bri’Ahl, Padmé brought R2-D2 and C-3PO along on a peace mission. Things quickly spiraled out of control. During a confrontation, C-3PO’s malfunctioning arm lashed out and punched a fake clone trooper right in the face. That trooper was one of the local separatist rebels disguised in clone armor. The blow knocked him unconscious, and his blaster misfired, killing one of his own men.

That single hit set off a chain reaction. The rest of the disguised rebels panicked, thinking they were under attack. They all started firing on each other, completely unsure who the enemy was. To make it worse, one of them dropped a thermal detonator into a crate of explosives, which blew up the entire camp in a massive fireball.

By the end, every one of those fake troopers was dead. C-3PO and R2 survived, though they were left in pretty rough shape. While not canon anymore, this comic shows a scenario where C-3PO’s kill count skyrocketed in one chaotic moment.
