Cad Bane was mentored by Jango Fett

Cad Bane is known as the most famous bounty hunter in the Star Wars galaxy.

But did you know that he was mentored by the legendary bounty hunter Jango Fett, the template for the clone troopers?

Yes, Cad Bane was trained by Jango Fett, and Bane, in turn, became the mentor of Boba Fett. But let’s not dive too deep into that.

Instead, we’ll focus on how Jango Fett’s mentorship made Cad Bane so adept at facing Jedi.

One of the memorable moments in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones is the battle between Jango Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, one of the great Jedi of that time.

Jango Fett managed to handle Obi-Wan effectively. He understood the Jedi so well that he could anticipate Obi-Wan’s moves.

For instance, when Obi-Wan tried to use the Force to retrieve his lightsaber, Jango quickly used a string to tie up Obi-Wan’s hands, preventing him from using the Force.

Although the battle doesn’t reveal much, it gives us an idea of how well Jango Fett understood the power of the Jedi and how he prepared himself to face them.

Given that Cad Bane was Jango Fett’s apprentice, it’s no surprise that Cad Bane learned many of these tricks from his master.

Cad Bane Learned the Best from His Bounty Hunter Mentor

So far, we don’t know exactly how Jango Fett trained Cad Bane, and we might have to wait for Disney Star Wars to provide more details, possibly through comics or TV series.

However, from Cad Bane’s fighting style, it’s clear how much he mirrors Jango Fett.

In the Clone Wars series, there is an episode where Cad Bane single-handedly takes down Obi-Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos, both Jedi.

When Obi-Wan and Quinlan approach Bane, you can see how he skillfully keeps his distance from the Jedi, understanding their proficiency with lightsabers.

Unlike Jango Fett, Bane doesn’t have a jetpack, but his boots function similarly, allowing him to maintain distance easily.

Speaking of keeping distance, Bane also carries a flamethrower, which helps him manage the space between himself and the Jedi.

In one-on-one combat, Bane proves to be formidable.

During the battle, Quinlan is tied up by Bane, and his lightsaber falls into Bane’s hands. Although Obi-Wan manages to retrieve Quinlan’s lightsaber, Bane displays impressive hand-to-hand combat skills, effortlessly taking one of the lightsabers from Obi-Wan.

These details highlight how well Cad Bane has prepared himself to face not just Jedi, but potentially other Force wielders as well.

Furthermore, Cad Bane has prepared so well that he knows the moves of Force wielders. The identical tubes on his face are designed to prevent Force choke by any Force wielder.
