As a fan of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, I have to be honest—I really enjoyed it. This is the only series where we get to dive deeper into our favorite characters from the prequels.
What makes it even more exciting is the return of Darth Vader, and one of the highlights for me was the flashback scenes of Anakin and Obi-Wan training with lightsabers.
The final battle between Vader and Obi-Wan gave me chills.
However, despite all the great moments, I noticed that some shots were awkwardly composed, and I’m here to point them out. Without further ado…

1. Obi-Wan and Leia’s Escape on the Speeder
One of the most issue with the Obi-Wan series for me is the moment when Obi-Wan with Leia and Tala Durith escape from the Fortress Inquisitorius.
Trust me, this scene is the most part I feel it is totally awkward.
While the scene is meant to be an intense and thrilling getaway, it’s received criticism for its somewhat awkward execution.
The CGI and framing make the speeder look oddly positioned as it floats and maneuvers, giving the escape an unpolished, rushed feeling.
The visual effects during this scene weren’t as sharp as fans expected, leading to a less immersive experience compared to other action-packed Star Wars sequences.
It gets worse in the moment when Reva is trying to reach Obi-Wan and Leia, and Wade swoops in with his speeder to interrupt her.
Here’s what really caught my attention: the floor beneath them should have reflected everything back, but in this shot, Reva and the stormtroopers had shadows on the ground while Wade’s speeder, right above them, showed no reflection at all.
It felt like a strange oversight that broke the visual consistency of the scene.
2. The Chase Scene on Alderaan (Young Leia)
From the beginning of the series, I believe many of us who’ve watched Obi-Wan Kenobi will recognize this infamous scene: young Princess Leia being chased by three bounty hunters on Alderaan.
The sequence is undeniably awkward. You have a small child surrounded by three grown men, who somehow manage to let her slip away with ridiculous ease.
At one point, they even have her cornered, but the way they bumble around makes it feel more like a scene out of “Home Alone” than “Star Wars.”
It’s hard to believe that experienced bounty hunters couldn’t catch up to a little girl.
Instead of feeling intense or thrilling, the chase drags on as Leia cleverly dodges slow-moving adults who trip and stumble over obstacles that a child easily avoids.
The whole thing has become somewhat of a joke within the fandom.
In fact, it’s become so iconic in its awkwardness that fans have started making parodies of it—here’s one that perfectly captures how absurd the scene is.
3. Reva’s Parkour Chase
So, from Episode 1, we could chalk up the chase scene with young Leia as a funny moment—maybe even a “Home Alone” tribute.
But things get more serious, and perhaps a bit more awkward, in Episode 2.
Here, we witness Reva chasing after Obi-Wan across the rooftops while he’s trying to rescue Leia.
At first glance, this should’ve been an intense chase scene: it’s nighttime, the buildings create a perfect parkour playground, and the music amps up the tension.
Reva is supposed to be a terrifying, relentless Inquisitor, and the stakes are high.
But instead of a thrilling chase, what we get is… well, something else entirely. Reva’s over-the-top parkour moves quickly become the focus, and they feel oddly unnecessary.
I mean, if she didn’t spend so much time flipping and spinning between buildings, she might’ve actually caught up to Obi-Wan! At some points, the gaps between rooftops aren’t even that far—she could’ve just jumped straight across like anyone in a chase scene would.
Instead, we’re treated to acrobatic flips that, while cool, seem to slow her down more than they help.
The choreography feels like it’s there just to show off Reva’s athleticism, which would be fine, except it makes the whole sequence drag out longer than it needs to.
Instead of adding to the suspense, it takes away from the urgency of the chase, leaving us wondering why she didn’t just use more practical moves to get the job done.
Conclusion
The list of awkward scenes in Obi-Wan Kenobi could go on, but honestly, the series isn’t all bad.
For every scene that feels a bit off, there are others that remind us why we love Star Wars in the first place. Take, for example, the powerful visuals of Obi-Wan healing in the Bacta tank.
The way it cuts between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader in their respective Bacta tanks adds layers to their connection—it’s something only die-hard Star Wars fans could truly appreciate.
It shows how Obi-Wan is beginning to realize that he and Vader are bound by more than just their history.
And let’s not forget the flashbacks with Obi-Wan and Anakin during their lightsaber training.
The scene hits all the nostalgic notes of the prequels, taking us back to the days when Anakin was still Obi-Wan’s Padawan. It reminds us of their bond before everything went so terribly wrong.
Then there’s the final confrontation between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan, echoing their epic duel on Mustafar, but with more emotional weight.
This time, it’s older, wiser Obi-Wan facing a fully armored Vader. It feels like a true culmination of their journey, making those intense moments stand out even more.
