If a Sith and a Jedi Had To Team Up Toward a Common Goal/Enemy, What Duo Would Be the Least Problematic?

If a Sith and a Jedi Had To Team Up Toward a Common Goal/Enemy, What Duo Would Be the Least Problematic?

If you’ve heard about Star Wars: The Old Republic, then you already know there’s been a time when the Sith and Jedi set aside their differences to work together.

But that’s not exactly what we’re talking about here.

What we want to see are the iconic characters from the films or series teaming up, imagine a duo like Darth Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi joining forces to take down Darth Sidious.

Now, wouldn’t that be something incredible to watch?

1. Maul and Obi-Wan

At first glance, Maul and Obi-Wan seem like the most unlikely duo, considering their long history of animosity Maul killed Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan defeated Maul multiple times, and the hatred between them ran deep.

But, think about it: Maul and Obi-Wan have a shared enemy in Palpatine.

In Star Wars: Rebels, we see Maul even suggest teaming up with Ezra and Kenobi to take down the Sith.

Could Obi-Wan set aside his bitterness if he knew Maul had something to offer in defeating a larger threat?

It’s possible. Obi-Wan’s sense of duty and Maul’s hunger for revenge against Palpatine could drive them toward a grudging but functional alliance.

The partnership would definitely be rocky, but if they focused on their mutual goal, it could work.

2. Darth Tyranus and Qui-Gon Jinn

This duo is much easier to imagine. Qui-Gon was Dooku’s apprentice, and even though their paths diverged, there’s still mutual respect between them.

Dooku, now a Sith Lord, carries much of the wisdom he learned as a Jedi, and we know from Attack of the Clones that he tries to recruit Obi-Wan by playing on their shared dissatisfaction with the Jedi Order.

If Qui-Gon were alive, he might understand Dooku’s frustrations with the Council, though he would never agree with his methods.

But in a scenario where they had to face a common enemy?

They could align based on that shared sense of idealism and desire for balance, even if it’s strained by Dooku’s dark side tendencies.

3. Obi-Wan and  Darth Tyranus

There’s already precedence for this in The Clone Wars series, where Dooku, Obi-Wan, and Anakin briefly join forces to escape captivity (Season 6, Episode 10).

While the trust between them is practically non-existent, Dooku’s tactical mind and Obi-Wan’s steady approach to problem-solving complement each other.

Obi-Wan is a master of defense, while Dooku is a master of finesse and precision, making them quite the formidable pair in combat.

The issue would be the power dynamic—Dooku’s arrogance and need to dominate would constantly clash with Obi-Wan’s need for cooperation and trust. Still, they’ve proven they can work together when the stakes are high.

4. Luke and Darth Vader

The idea of Luke and Vader teaming up isn’t that far-fetched—after all, Vader spent much of The Empire Strikes Back trying to convince Luke to join him.

The tension here would come from their vastly different philosophies. Luke fights for hope and redemption, while Vader is consumed by power and control.

However, there’s a moment of synergy in Return of the Jedi where Vader does switch sides, helping Luke destroy the Emperor.

In a scenario where they have a mutual goal (like overthrowing Palpatine), they would form an undeniably powerful duo.

Their combined strength in the Force would make them almost unstoppable, but Luke’s emotional attachment to saving Vader might make things complicated.

5. Yoda and Sidious

This is probably one of the most challenging duos to imagine, considering their roles as the ultimate representatives of the light and dark sides of the Force.

But in a scenario where the galaxy itself is under threat from an even greater enemy—perhaps something like the Yuuzhan Vong or another external force—Yoda and Sidious might be forced to cooperate.

Yoda’s wisdom and tactical mind combined with Sidious’s cunning and raw power would make for a terrifyingly effective partnership.

Yoda would obviously struggle with Sidious’s willingness to sacrifice innocents for victory, and Sidious would despise Yoda’s mercy and restraint.

6. Darth Vader and Ahsoka

Darth Vader and Ahsoka have a tragic history that would make any partnership incredibly strained, but also deeply compelling.

In Star Wars Rebels, we see how much conflict there is between them when they face off on Malachor.

However, if they had to team up, it would likely be out of necessity rather than desire.

Ahsoka, trained by Anakin, would understand his tactics and thinking better than most, making her a valuable ally.

Vader, on the other hand, might see Ahsoka as useful, though he’d never admit it. The real challenge would be Ahsoka’s moral code versus Vader’s ruthless methods.

Yet, in the face of a larger threat, perhaps Ahsoka could draw out the remnants of Anakin still within Vader to work together.

7. Dooku and Yoda

As Master and former apprentice, Yoda and Dooku have a unique dynamic.

Dooku respects Yoda, even as a Sith, which is clear in their duel in Attack of the Clones.

If they had to team up against a common foe, Yoda’s calm wisdom would contrast with Dooku’s sharp intellect and pragmatic approach to combat.

Their combined experience and mastery of the Force would make them a terrifying duo to face.

The tension, of course, would come from Yoda’s disappointment in Dooku’s fall, and Dooku’s arrogance in believing he’s surpassed his former master.

But in a temporary alliance? They would be unstoppable.

8. Revan and Vader

Two of the most powerful Force users in Star Wars history, Revan and Vader both have deep connections to the light and dark sides of the Force.

Revan’s experience with walking the line between Jedi and Sith could make him an ideal partner for Vader, who struggles with similar conflicts.

Revan could provide insight into how to wield both sides of the Force without being consumed by it, something Vader could never fully achieve.

Together, they would be an incredibly destructive force, but also a highly volatile one, as both are prone to giving in to their darker impulses.

9. Obi-Wan and Darth Vader

This pairing would be incredibly emotional and complex, given their history as master and apprentice.

In A New Hope, Obi-Wan and Vader are clearly at odds, but there is still an underlying connection between them.

If forced to work together, it would likely be out of shared respect for each other’s abilities, despite the deep personal betrayals.

Obi-Wan would have to come to terms with Vader’s transformation, while Vader might see Obi-Wan as a reminder of the man he once was.

Together, they would form a balanced and skilled team, but the emotional tension would be unbearable.

10. Ezra and Maul

Ezra and Maul’s brief partnership in Star Wars Rebels is a perfect example of how two characters with vastly different motives can still find common ground.

Maul tries to manipulate Ezra, seeing him as a tool to further his own goals, but Ezra’s moral compass keeps him from falling completely.

Their teamwork in the hunt for the Sith holocron shows that, despite Maul’s ulterior motives, they can work together effectively when necessary.

Ezra’s youthful idealism contrasts with Maul’s hardened cynicism, making their partnership a tense but intriguing one.
