Mark Hamill’s Thoughts of the Prequel Trilogy

Mark Hamill’s Thoughts of the Prequel Trilogy

Despite the success of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, some fans were not satisfied with the films.

Many believed the dialogue and character development did not meet their expectations, leading to a wave of negative comments directed at the cast and George Lucas.

Our beloved Mark Hamill has shared his thoughts on the fan criticisms about the Prequel Trilogy.

Let’s see what he had to say!

During an interview with The Vulture Spot from New York Magazine, Mark Hamill was asked how it felt to revisit Skywalker after all these years.

He admitted he was terrified. He expanded on this by recalling the harsh criticism directed at the prequels and expressed concern that the new movies could face similar backlash.

Hamill shared his thoughts on the numerous negative comments from Star Wars fans about the prequels.

He particularly highlighted the way fans treated Jake Lloyd, who played young Anakin Skywalker. Lloyd was just ten years old at the time.

Hamill stated, “I’m still angry about the way they treated Jake Lloyd. He was only 10 years old and did exactly what George wanted him to do.”

People seemed to have issues with Lloyd’s delivery of the dialogue. Hamill, understanding the difficulty of the script, said, “Believe me, I understand the clunky dialogue.”

He reflected on his own experiences with challenging dialogue during the original trilogy.

Hamill also mentioned how some people who hated the prequels tried to drag him into their criticism of George Lucas.

He recalled, “I could tell the questions they were asking me were an open invitation to trash George, and I have issues with George, but I love that man. I would never, you know, talk outside the family.”
