PROOF Daisy Ridley HATES The Last Jedi (Her TRUE Thoughts)

In 2019, actor Daisy Ridley had expressed how she could understand if fans did not like The Last Jedi. More recently, she went further and expressed her true thoughts about the movie.

Does Daisy Ridley hate The Last Jedi? Read on to find out.

Ridley’s original remarks were posted on discussion boards and revealed how she “wasn’t surprised” by the fan backlash against The Last Jedi.

She could empathize with fans and see how long-time ones might object to the depiction of Luke Skywalker.

As this video captures, fans have voiced their disapproval of the depiction of Skywalker and his final sacrifice in The Last Jedi.

Ridley agreed that director Rian Johnson took the story and characters in radical new directions with this movie.

She was sympathetic to how fans may react to these diversions or “subversions” of long-time favorite characters.

Ridley also expressed her thoughts about this film in interviews shortly after it was released.

In this one, she paused when asked if she was happy with the film and gave an unconvincing “sure” that seemed to indicate she did not really like it.

She was especially concerned about what her family might think of it.

In a more recent interview about the sequels, she revealed more of her thoughts. Ridley thought The Last Jedi was “super divisive,” as was The Rise of Skywalker.

She does not come right out and say that she hated both films but seems to lead us in that direction.

However, as a respected actor, Ridley does not condemn The Last Jedi or the decision with the final sequel to make Rey a Palpatine, although she would have liked the character to remain a “no one.”

Ridley instead tends to leave the discussion short of open disapproval and open to fan interpretation.

The Last Jedi, Fans, and Ridley

Many fans protested against the second sequel film and shared their reviews.

As this post sums up aptly, problems with The Last Jedi arose with its “truly baffling character decisions, awkward humor, [and] useless subplots.”

The film did have some merits, fans admit, but these elements tended to push the film into objectionable terrain.

Mark Hamill also reportedly disliked The Last Jedi and agreed with such fan protests. Yet, he also tempered his comments.

Although he disagreed with Rian’s decision to portray Luke as a quitter, he added that “it’s not my story anymore, it’s somebody else’s story,” and that Johnson had a right to make those creative choices.

Along these lines, fans who disliked The Last Jedi and the sequels do not blame the misfortunes on the actors.

Discussions like this one tend to see Ridley as a great actor, regardless of their negative views of the film.

In reverse, Ridley has reflected on her experiences in the Star Wars universe and concluded that she “learned so much as an actor.”

Yet, she still found the negative views of The Last Jedi “upsetting.” It seems that Ridley has mixed feelings about the movie but can still take something away from it.

Many fans are in this same middle ground, although the negative viewpoints have garnered more press.
