Revealed: Who is The Downtrodden Clone Veteran in “Obi-Wan Kenobi”?

Many of us have likely tuned into Disney’s Star Wars series, particularly the one featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi.

In this series, we’re introduced to a clone trooper, once a frontline soldier for the Galactic Republic.

His identity, once shrouded in mystery, has now been unveiled, revealing not just his name, but also the legion he belonged to. All the answers you seek are detailed below.

So, without further ado…

The Downtrodden Clone Trooper

In the Obi-Wan series, we encounter Nax, a clone trooper bearing the weight of a hard life. Born on the planet Kamino, Nax was a human male clone of Jango Fett, sharing the same origin as his fellow clone troopers.

Nax served in the elite 501st Legion of the Galactic Republic’s Grand Army during the Clone Wars, fighting against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

His service record includes battles on Teth, Christophsis, and Umbara, among others.

However, after suffering severe injuries that resulted in shrapnel lodged in his right leg, he was pulled from the frontlines.

The rise of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY marked a turning point for Nax and his brethren.

The Empire initiated Project War-Mantle, a plan to augment and eventually replace the clone troopers with volunteer and conscripted soldiers.

Due to his accelerated aging, a common trait among clones, Nax was deemed unfit for military service. This left him in a state of destitution and abandonment, a forgotten hero of a bygone era.

Nax

Nax, a homeless clone trooper, found himself on the planet Daiyu. His accelerated aging and the scars of his past had taken a toll on him, leaving him in a state of neglect and forcing him to beg for credits to get by.

During this time, he crossed paths with the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was in hiding and on a mission to find the kidnapped Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan.

In desperate need, Nax asked Kenobi for credits to afford a meal.

Kenobi, concealing his lightsaber beneath his robe, kindly tossed some credits into Nax’s helmet. Nax acknowledged Kenobi’s generosity with a nod.

Kenobi then departed, but not before casting a solemn, lingering glance at Nax.

Nax, while living in destitution on Daiyu, donned a worn-out Phase II clone trooper armor, distinguished by the blue markings of the 501st Legion.

He also had a matching helmet, which he repurposed as a container for collecting credits. His arms were wrapped in bandages, and he wore a green poncho for additional cover.

Despite retaining the boots from his armor, he opted for a pair of brown pants instead of the original leg and waist components. A reminder of his past battles, his leg still contained shrapnel from injuries he had sustained.
