7 Strongest Jedi and Sith for Every Lightsaber Color – Ranked!

7 Strongest Jedi and Sith for Every Lightsaber Color – Ranked!

When we think about lightsabers in Star Wars, the first thing that comes to mind is usually the color—and each color has its own legacy. Blue and green are the classics, but then you’ve got purple, yellow, white, red, and even some wild ones from Legends. But behind every blade is a wielder who made it iconic. From fearless Jedi Masters to ruthless Sith Lords, some characters took these lightsaber colors and turned them into symbols of strength, legacy, and power.

So let’s go through the strongest wielders of each lightsaber color—canon and Legends included—and see who truly mastered the weapon they carried.

Blue – Anakin Skywalker

If we’re picking one name to represent the blue lightsaber, it has to be Anakin Skywalker. From the moment he became a Jedi Knight, Anakin showed a level of skill and confidence that few others had. He was known across the galaxy as a war hero during the Clone Wars, and we see it for ourselves—taking on droid armies, fighting alongside Obi-Wan, and winning battles most Jedi wouldn’t survive.

There are a few moments that really show how strong he was. In Revenge of the Sith, when he duels Count Dooku again, it’s not even close. He overpowers Dooku and ends the fight in seconds—something he couldn’t do back in Attack of the Clones. Later, on Mustafar, his fight with Obi-Wan is one of the most intense duels in the entire saga. Obi-Wan may have won in the end, but it was clear how far Anakin had come.

His blue lightsaber became iconic—not just because of what he did with it, but because of where it ended up. After Mustafar, Obi-Wan took it. Then it passed to Luke. That same blade has seen the rise, fall, and return of the Skywalker legacy. Out of everyone who’s ever wielded a blue saber, Anakin’s story gave it the most weight.

Green – Luke Skywalker

For green, I have to go with Luke Skywalker. I know many would pick Yoda over Luke, but hear me out. When he first shows up in Return of the Jedi wearing all black and igniting that green lightsaber, you instantly feel that shift—Luke’s not the farm boy anymore. He’s calm, confident, and completely in control.

One of the best examples is the sail barge scene. Luke flips off the plank, catches his new saber mid-air from R2-D2, and goes full Jedi mode. He deflects blaster bolts, disarms enemies with quick, clean strikes, and takes out a whole squad of guards without even breaking a sweat.

After that, we then see Luke duel with Vader in the throne room. Luke isn’t just holding his ground—he’s matching Vader step for step. But the turning point is when Vader threatens to turn Leia to the dark side. That’s when Luke snaps. He unleashes everything he has, swinging harder than we’ve ever seen, and forces Vader to the ground in a brutal rush of strikes.

Purple – Darth Revan

For purple, I’m picking Darth Revan. I know Mace Windu is the canon choice, but if we’re diving into Legends, there’s no way I’m skipping Revan. The purple lightsaber fits him perfectly it’s not just about power, it’s about balance. And Revan is literally the guy who walked right between the light and the dark. His whole story is wild. He started as a Jedi hero in the Mandalorian Wars, then turned into a Sith Lord, nearly took over the Republic, lost his memories, came back to the light, and kept fighting even after death.

In combat, Revan fought Mandalore the Ultimate one-on-one and won. Later, he defeated Darth Malak, who was empowered by the Star Forge. And even after death, his spirit continued to resist the influence of the Sith Emperor Vitiate, one of the most powerful dark side beings in the entire galaxy.

Red – Darth Sidious

If we’re talking red lightsabers, there’s really no one more fitting than Darth Sidious. Every time we see him ignite his saber, it’s against multiple opponents, not just one. In Revenge of the Sith, he takes on Mace Windu and three other Jedi Masters. The outcome might be debated, but the fact is—Sidious held his own against the best of the Jedi Order.

What really shows his power, though, is in The Clone Wars Season 5, Episode 16, “The Lawless.” He travels to Mandalore and confronts both Maul and Savage Opress at once—and still wins. The way he moves, the precision of his strikes, how he quickly isolates Savage mid-fight and takes him down—it’s all calculated and ruthless.

White – Ahsoka

The only person I believe everyone would agree on for white lightsabers is definitely Ahsoka, without a doubt. Ahsoka is also one of the few Jedi to survive Order 66—and not because of luck, but because of her skill and training.

In The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 5, we see her white sabers in full action when she takes down Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth in a close duel. She’s fast, precise, and completely in control. That same efficiency shows up in Tales of the Jedi, where she kills an Inquisitor in one strike after calmly disarming him.

What also makes these lightsabers stand out is how she purified the red crystals herself, turning them white. That’s not just a cool visual—it’s proof of how much she’s grown since the Clone Wars.

Orange – Baylan Skoll

If we’re talking orange lightsabers, there’s really only one name that comes to mind—Baylan Skoll. In Ahsoka, Baylan stands out not just because of his unique saber color, but because of how he carries himself. He’s not a Jedi, not a Sith, and not pretending to be either. That burnt-orange blade reflects exactly who he is—someone walking a line between light and dark with a purpose that’s still unfolding.

Every time Baylan enters a duel, there’s weight to it. His fight with Ahsoka on Seatos proves how dangerous and composed he really is. He’s not driven by rage, but by belief—and that makes him terrifying. You don’t see him lose control, and you don’t see him hesitate. He’s methodical, powerful, and precise. That’s what makes Baylan Skoll the perfect representative of the orange lightsaber—someone who doesn’t follow old codes but still wields the Force with absolute intent.

Yellow – Rey Skywalker

We’ve seen yellow lightsabers before, mostly in the hands of anonymous Jedi Temple Guards in The Clone Wars. But Rey is the first major character in canon to wield one in a significant way.

By the end of The Rise of Skywalker, Rey has survived two battles with Kylo Ren, resisted the influence of Palpatine, and trained under both Leia and Luke. Her yellow lightsaber, which she builds herself, marks the end of that journey. It’s a reflection of her choosing her own path after burying the sabers of Anakin and Leia.

The yellow blade itself comes from the kyber crystal she purifies and installs in a custom hilt—something that shows she’s not picking up a Jedi legacy exactly as it was, but building something new from what remains. She may not have had years in the Jedi Temple, but her skills in combat and her connection to the Force are undeniable.

Rey earned that blade. And in terms of canon, she’s the most capable and recognized wielder of a yellow lightsaber we’ve seen so far.
