At the Disney Entertainment Showcase D23 2024, we finally received exciting news about a new Star Wars movie that fans eagerly anticipated.
Yes, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” was officially announced during the event by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, the creative minds behind the successful Star Wars series “The Mandalorian.”
Here are some intriguing details for any Star Wars fan.
The Razor Crest is back! If you’ve watched the Mandalorian series, you’ll remember that the Razor Crest was completely destroyed during Din Djarin’s mission to save Grogu from the Empire’s Stormtroopers.
However, during the teaser trailer shown at D23 2024, fans were thrilled to see the Razor Crest make an appearance.
Another exciting detail from the trailer is the snowy planet featuring Snowtroopers. One of the scenes even shows Din Djarin fighting Snowtroopers inside their base.
So my guess is Mando and Grogu may have a bounty mission that is related to the Empire.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, the footage hinted at new adventures for Din and Grogu as they traverse the galaxy, encountering both old and new threats.
Favreau and Filoni emphasized the rich storytelling opportunities that the big screen offers, allowing for deeper character development and more expansive narratives.
Favreau is producing the film alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Filoni, Lucasfilm CCO and former supervising director of the beloved animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau previously said. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Last but not least, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” will release in theaters on May 22, 2026.
