The Rare and Dangerous Lightsaber Form Yoda’s Species Used

Most Star Wars fans hear “lightsaber form” and think of the classics, Form III defense, Form V power, Vaapad, all that. But every once in a while, the lore throws out something that doesn’t feel like a style you practice so much as a trick you barely survive.

But did you know there’s a lightsaber “form” that not many Jedi could pull off, one most closely associated with Yoda’s species? It sounds ridiculous on paper, but once you picture it, it’s honestly kind of insane.

Vandar Tokare Was the Yoda-Species Jedi Who Fought With Telekinetic Lightsabers

Yes, Vandar Tokare doesn’t fight like a typical Jedi who’s just trading strikes with a saber in hand. He takes lightsaber combat into a completely different lane by using the Force to control his blades telekinetically, turning the fight into something closer to weapon choreography than a normal duel.

People sometimes point to Vader as a comparison, but it’s not really the same thing. Vader will throw his saber and call it back, effective, but it’s still basically a single attack before the weapon returns to his grip.

Vandar is operating on another level. He can keep his lightsabers under sustained telekinetic control, and he isn’t limited to just one. The idea is multiple blades moving and striking under Force guidance, which is exactly why it comes off so rare, and so dangerous, compared to standard lightsaber combat.

Improved Kinetic Combat Let Him Control Multiple Blades at Once

This idea is also supported elsewhere in Legends material. Wookieepedia notes that Vandar was capable of advanced telekinetic applications like levitation, and that he could even wield his shotos telekinetically. That makes the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide entry feel less like an isolated stat block detail and more like part of Vandar’s overall combat style.

And the guide straight up explains what the upgraded technique does: you can wield up to three weapons simultaneously using the kinetic combat power. That’s not a one-time throw-and-catch. That’s sustained control, keeping multiple weapons active at the same time through the Force.
