Thanks to the Clone Wars, Rebels, and Bad Batch shows, the clone troopers have become favorite characters across generations of Star Wars fans.
Some clone troopers are liked because of their personalities while others draw attention for their fighting ability, bravery, and loyalty.
Read on to find out more about the Top 10 Clone Troopers.

10. Fordo
Fordo was the clone trooper who made his entrance in the 2003 cartoon series about the clones.
As this video conveys, Fordo played a daring role in destroying a Separatist cannon, rescuing Jedi from General Grievous, and fighting on the front lines during the Battle of Coruscant.
Fans especially like Fordo because he successfully fought off an “overwhelming force of droids while keeping his cool and still commanding his troops.” His fearlessness earns him a spot on this list too.
9. Echo
The above video also places Echo on the top 10 list. Echo was among the Advanced Recon Commandos or ARC troopers depicted in The Clone Wars animated show.
That he was willing to sacrifice himself to save his fellow clones and Jedi helps distinguish this clone trooper.
Along with Fives, discussed below, Echo was originally part of the Domino Squad and fought to save his homeworld from the Separatists.
As an ARC trooper, Echo survived an explosion and was taken prisoner by Separatist Forces who transformed him into a cyborg.
Echo was also rescued by the Bad Batch. In turn, by the third season of the show by their name, Echo played a key role in rescuing the clone child Omega and her captured friends from the clutches of the Empire.
8. Sev
As one assessment of clone troopers states, Sev was “the deadliest and most savage of Republic Commando’s Delta Squad.” His fighting ability alone grants him a spot on this list too.
Sev was the Delta Squad’s sniper and medic and was known for his dark sense of humor and hatred of the Geonisians.
He took out Super Battle Droids, was an expert marksman, and was skilled at hand-to-hand combat. His accomplishments include rescuing the Wookiee Tarfful and assassinating a top Geonosian leader.
With a sarcastic personality, he made a great trooper, but he perished on Kashyyyk.
7. Wolffe
As leader of the Wolfpack Squad, Commander Wolffe served under Jedi Master Plo Koon. He lost his eye in a fight with Asajj Ventress but gained a distinguishing cybernetic eye as a replacement. He emerged as one of the few clone troopers who removed his inhibitor chip.
As shown in The Clone Wars and Rebels, Wolffe has a gruff, “bred for combat” way about him that makes him an appealing character.
He also had displayed longevity, at first living with fellow castaways Captain Rex and Commando Gregor in an AT-TE, and then fighting on the side of the Rebels to free the planet Lothal from the Empire.
6. Cody
During the Clone Wars, Commander Cody served under Obi-Wan and led the famous 212th battalion.
He infamously followed Order 66 and commanded his troops to fire on Kenobi. This scene with Kenobi from Revenge of the Sith shows what a trusted commander he was and how unfortunate the order was.
That he followed Order 66 might disqualify him. Yet, his discipline as a soldier and to the mission was unfaltering.
His use of a DC-15A blaster rifle also made him stand out. He also came around to see the Empire for the evil it stood for and abandoned it.
5. Fives
Placing Fives at number 5 is based on reason and rhyme. Often fighting side-by-side with Captain Rex, Fives evinced courage, bravery, and intelligence.
This last trait was perhaps best exemplified in how Fives discovered the truth behind the inhibitor chips. His loyalty was likewise demonstrated when he tried to warn the Jedi.
Fives initially proved himself by surviving an attack on the Domino Squad to become part of the 501st Legion and then the ARC troopers.
While fighting in the Battle of Ringo Vinda, Fives saw his clonemate Tup kill Jedi General Tiplar because of an inhibitor chip malfunction.
Fives figured out that these chips were meant to control the clones to carry out Order 66.
Fives had the bravery to inform Chancellor Palpatine about this plan, but unfortunately, that was the wrong person to turn to.
4. Captain Rex
Leader of the 501st Legion and serving under Anakin Skywalker, Captain Rex became a prominent leader in the Clone Wars series. His appearances in Rebels have also made Captain Rex a fan favorite.
Among Captain Rex’s accomplishments were his second-in-command fighting skills in the 501st, his defiance of Order 66, helping Ahsoka Tano escape (and she helped him by removing his chip), and living to become a commander in the Rebel Alliance.
In the Bad Batch series, Rex also thwarted the early Empire and consistently showed his loyalty to his team, as he had for the Jedi and the Republic.
3. Hunter
The character of Hunter took off with The Bad Batch series. As leader of Clone Force 99, nicknamed the Bad Batch, Hunter had a genetic mutation of heightened senses and became known for his aggressive tactics.
These scenes from the Clone Wars series capture Hunter as a fearless, courageous, and frontline character willing to sacrifice everything in the battle.
After escaping from the emerging Empire, Hunter led the Bad Batch on a mission to survive and work against this dark power.
As the Bad Batch took on jobs under the smuggler Cid and faced off with villains like Cad Bane, Hunter continued as a fearsome leader.
He also displayed a gentler side by serving as a father figure to Omega. At the end of Season 3 of the Bad Batch, we see Hunter growing old and still that father to a grown-up Omega.
2. Wrecker
As with Hunter, Wrecker was among the original Bad Batch and often proved to be a wrecking ball to opponents. Wrecker has incredible strength and uses brute force to get his team members out of trouble.
Near the end of the Clone Wars, he even lifted a gunship to save Commander Cody.
He only ranks above Hunter because of the frequent times that he saved him and the Bad Batch.
This scene from Season 3 of The Bad Batch provides a good representation of Wrecker’s raw power and emotion to ensure his friend’s safety.
His willingness to go to the extreme for his fellow clones makes him stand out.
1. Tech
In a ranking of clone troopers in Entertainment Weekly, Tech is described as “sort of like the Cliff Clavin of the Bad Batch,” a reference to a comical character in the 1980s to early 1990s show Cheers.
Like Clavin, Tech is known for knowing “a lot of random facts” and conveying them to willing and unwilling listeners alike.
Tech is informative and talkative and provides a different angle for the clones.
As the “brains” of the Bad Batch, Tech served in the Clone Wars and abandoned the Empire like the rest of his crew. He is not only a master of technology and weapons and highly intelligent, but also a valiant fighter.
Moreover, Tech gave up his life for his squad mates, proving that bravery and strength can go with intelligence. As we see in his final scene, Tech expresses wit, devotion, and the Bad Batch anthem when he says, “When have we ever followed orders.”
Many fans mourned the loss of Tech and hoped for his return in a way that Ezra did in Ahsoka.
