As the former apprentice of Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress sought vengeance against her master. Ventress was a wildcard and difficult to predict, which is part of what made her an interesting character.
In The Clone Wars show, she died, but she returned in The Bad Batch. Will she likewise return in a new show or movie? Read on to find out more.

What Happened to Asajj Ventress?
Based on the canon novel, Dark Disciple, Asajj Ventress died because of her involvement with the defected Jedi Quinlan Vos.
As we may know, Voss was wooed back to the light side to work secretly against Count Dooku. Ventress partnered with him on this task, but Vos became corrupted by the dark side, ultimately leading to her death.
As this video explains, what undermined the Jedi Council’s plan to manipulate Dooku was the emotional relationship between Ventress and Voss.
Their joint “trauma” and story of survival bonded them together, but Voss got pulled into the dark side and their planned assassination failed.
Once Ventress took on Dooku in a lightsaber duel to free Voss from Dooku’s control, she met her demise from Force lightning.
We saw this outcome in Season 4 of the Clone Wars. Yet, Ventress did come back in the final season of The Bad Batch. As articles like this one convey, her return broke with canon and messed up “the excellent resolution” to her story.
Resurrecting Ventress could undermine the emotional ending of her character arc.
However, bringing back Ventress could have exciting possibilities, and we may wonder what will happen to her now…
What Will Happen to Ventress Now?
Some fans hope not to see Ventress in a live-action show. As one post explains, seeing “a character from another series/saga/time is fun, but when they start to appear all over the place” the character may not “feel special anymore.”
Yet, others point out, in reference to Ahsoka, that “the whole thing with the Night Sisters working with Thrawn” provides an opportunity for “her playing a role in Mando S4/movie.”
Others on this last line of thought think Ventress could come back in Season 2 of Ahsoka. These responses prompt the question of whether Ventress’ return would result in overexposure or an exciting storyline in a new movie or series.
While including Asajj Ventress in the next round of Star Wars could have its drawbacks, there seems to be more promise than peril.
For one, it would be an interesting storyline to follow Ventress’s potential resurrection from the Water of Life, where she was brought to die. A show could start with a revival from these waters that may explain how she returned in The Bad Batch.
This premise would fulfill her “couple lives left” statement and the open possibility provided in Dark Disciple.
The story could perhaps delve into Dathomir and Ventress’s role with the Night Sisters. An animated or live-action show could be compelling.
As with one of the comments from the discussion board above, maybe Ventress does team up with Thrawn and the Nightsisters. In that case, we see her emerge in Ahsoka as an antagonist.
This story and character arc would seem like a leaping-off point from The Bad Batch too.
Based on this scene, we could imagine Ventress using not just dark Magick but also displaying her supreme fighting skills.
Then again, Asajj could serve as a double agent and ultimately work to defeat the dark elements within the Star Wars galaxy.
The Return of Asajj Ventress
Asajj Ventress died but returned. That resurrection bodes well for the next Star Wars undertaking. Although we may have reservations about overusing this character, the possibilities seem to outweigh the downsides.
Given the success of Ahsoka, we may see another female lead villain or heroine.
