Why Anakin HATED His Mechanical Arm

Why Anakin HATED His Mechanical Arm

Did you know that after the battle with Count Dooku, Anakin’s lightsaber was destroyed, and he lost an arm to Dooku, which Anakin considered his first failure?

But that is not what Anakin truly cared about.

The actual thing Anakin was concerned about was his robotic arm.

He was so concerned about the robotic arm that he actually hated it.

The hate for the robotic arm was so huge that he had to cover it with a glove.

I found this information from a Star Wars canon novelization and I would like to share it with you. Let’s see why Anakin hated his mechanical arm.

Why Anakin HATED His Mechanical Arm (CANON)

Star Wars: Skywalker: A Family at War” details the events after Anakin and Obi-Wan’s loss to Count Dooku on Geonosis.

After being saved by Yoda and returning to Coruscant, Anakin rebuilt a blue lightsaber for himself.

Following that, “the best medical droids in the galaxy fabricated a gleaming prosthetic limb to replace the right arm he had lost during the duel with Dooku.”

As Anakin got used to his mechanical arm, he often covered it with either a customized or autoseal glove.

During his time serving as a Jedi General, the Jedi Order led the Clone army in battles against the Droids.

The mechanical arm added a level of complexity to Anakin’s role, as it was a visible reminder of his part-machine nature.

To avoid any potential confusion or negative perceptions from the Clones, Anakin decided to cover his right arm with a glove.

The novel states, “The recognition that Anakin himself was now part machine added a level of complexity to his place in the fight, commanding the soldiers who battled a Separatist army almost entirely comprised of droid soldiers. The naked technology of his arm and hand was a gruesome reminder of his potential for defeat.

This detail can be found in the novel I mentioned earlier. For the specific chapter, you can start with Part One: The Father, Chapter 6: The Jedi General.
