I keep seeing people online say that Bo-Katan should be way older in The Mandalorian — that she’s supposed to be in her 60s or something, and it “doesn’t make sense” that she still looks so young. But honestly, that whole argument falls apart once you actually look at the timeline.
Most fans assume Bo was already in her late 20s or 30s during The Clone Wars, but there’s no canon source that says that. In fact, based on what we know from The Clone Wars and Rebels, it makes way more sense that she was around 16 or 17 when we first met her. She was already a trained warrior in Death Watch, young, proud, and reckless, not some seasoned veteran.
Bo-Katan Was Probably a Teenager During The Clone Wars
So first, let’s figure out how old Bo-Katan actually was when we first met her in The Clone Wars. The earliest clue we have comes from Dave Filoni, who mentioned that Bo-Katan and her sister Satine were around six years old when they officially became members of Death Watch.
According to Dave Filoni, Satine and Bo-Katan are very close in age. Filoni, who once mentioned that he has an “extensive genealogy of Clan Kryze,” even described a key moment from their childhood that shaped who they would eventually become.
In The Clone Wars Hangout (around the 28:15 mark), Filoni said:
“You ask yourself why is [Bo] acting one way and why was [Satine] a pacifist? I have a theoretical backstory that outlines them even at six years old — the two of them — and what transpired to make them who they are today.”
Filoni even doubled down on this idea in another interview with IGN, where he expanded more on the Kryze family’s history. He explained that he’s written a detailed backstory showing exactly how Bo ended up joining Death Watch — and it all traces back to when she and Satine were just six years old.
“I have a rather lengthy backstory that even explains how [Bo] became a Death Watch soldier that goes all the way back to the time she and Satine are six. Because to figure out how she got to that point, and yet Satine is a duchess… I have a whole story about who their father was and what their relationships were and everything with Vizsla, going back for a very long time and how that intersects with Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
Unfortunately, we don’t know the exact year Bo officially joined Death Watch, but based on the timeline and what Filoni has said, it’s safe to assume she was still very young by the time we see her in The Clone Wars. When we first meet her in the episode “A Friend in Need” (around 20 BBY), Bo was likely in her late teens or maybe just around twenty years old, still early in her life.
What’s the Age of Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian Season 2?
Now that we’ve pinned down her rough age during The Clone Wars, we can figure out how old Bo-Katan would be by the time she appears in The Mandalorian.
If Bo was around 17 to 20 years old during The Clone Wars, that would make her about 45 to 49 years old during The Mandalorian.
So no, she’s definitely not in her 60s. Her age actually lines up pretty well with how she looks in the show — mature, battle-worn, but still sharp and strong. It’s also worth noting that Mandalorians are some of the toughest warriors in the galaxy. They age differently, both physically and mentally, because of how early they start training and fighting.
