Without This Jedi’s Dεath… Ahsoka Wouldn’t Be Alive Today

Fives and Rex deserve credit for helping Ahsoka stay alive after Order 66. Yet, without the death of one particular Jedi, Ashoka wouldn’t have made it. This was the Jedi killed by Tup when his inhibitor chip malfunctioned. She became a martyr for a higher cause.

The Jedi Who Saved Ahsoka

We may know Tiplar as the Jedi General whom clone trooper Tup killed when his inhibitor chip malfunctioned. Her tragic death forced the Republic forces to retreat at the Battle of Ringo Vinda, and sent Tup on a downward spiral.

In this scene, we see the Republic troops advancing with Tiplar and her Jedi sister Tiplee. As they prepared for phase two of the battle, Tiplar took one group down a passageway, but Tup struggled with confusion as his chip took hold of his actions. In the midst of battle, he removed his helmet and blasted Tiplar at point-blank range.

We may next think of Fives, who witnessed Tup killing Tiplar and tackled him to the floor. A tangled web of events then unfolded around the earlier issuance of Order 66, with Fives also eventually losing his life. Some of the details and Palpatine’s role in them are discussed in this article

Amid this dark tale, there is a bright side, however. Tiplar’s death began the process of exposing the truth behind the inhibitor chips. This knowledge provided Ahsoka with a means to stay alive.

How Tiplar’s Death Kept Ahsoka Alive

This Reddit discussion provides a jumping-off point for unraveling this topic. Although the sequence of events is somewhat convoluted, we can piece together how Tiplar’s death came to save Ahsoka.

Fives deserves much of the credit for investigating and revealing the detested inhibitor chips. He valiantly tried to “stop the destruction of the Jedi, only to be killed” by Commander Fox. Fives provided the trail for finding the truth and played an “indirect” role in saving Captain Rex and Ahsoka.

When Order 66 was issued, Ahsoka discovered the security files concerning Fives, Tup, Tiplar, and the chips. We can thank The Clone Wars, Season 7, for these insights. As shown here, Ahsoka gleaned through visual files and a grievance report filed by Rex and learned the truth.

In this scene, also from Episode 11 “Shattered,” Ahsoka took action to save Rex and remove his inhibitor chip. The tension built up as the medical droids and she struggled to find the chip, and then Ahsoka battled a barrage of clones. But she succeeded with removing it, and Rex came back to himself, offering apologies to Ahsoka.

Then, it was Rex’s turn to save Ahsoka. As they made their escape, Rex helped protect Ahsoka from attacking clone troopers. They also faked their deaths before separating to go off into hiding.

With all these happenings, it looks like Rex and Fives are most responsible for saving Ahsoka. Not to detract from them, but recognizing the root of the issue, we should also credit Jedi Tiplar. Without her death, there would not have been any investigation into what these chips were really all about.

It was the investigation files, including Tup’s brain image of Tiplar, that allowed Ahsoka to find the truth and save Rex and herself. Tiplar became a martyr for the cause of fighting against the incoming Empire.

We can also credit Ahsoka’s connection to the Force, fighting skills, and training under Anakin, as this video does, for helping her to survive. Yet, the knowledge component was essential to her staying alive.

Tiplar’s Death and Ahsoka

By exploring this sequence of events, we discover how Tiplar’s death laid the foundation for Ahsoka’s life. Fives and Rex were instrumental, but Tiplar’s unwitting sacrifice sparked the investigation that provided a path for Ahsoka to overcome Order 66.
