We may have been first introduced to Black Krrsantan in The Book of Boba Fett. Yet, this Wookiee bounty hunter has been around for a decade. He debuted in the 2015 Darth Vader #1 comic by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca. As a new but old character, Krrsantan has many interesting facts. Here are ten of them.

1. Different Nicknames
The male Wookiee bounty hunter Krrsantan is also known as Black Krrsantan but has several other nicknames. Doctor Aphra, the female archaeologist who was recruited and later rejected by Darth Vader, called him Santy, BK, and Black K. Boba Fett called him Santo.
These different names provide some indication of the various relationships Krrsantan formed from the Empire to the New Republic. As a bounty hunter, this Wookiee worked among the fringes of the galaxy but also had a previous job.
2. Black Krrsantan Was a Pit Fighter
Krrsantan’s Wookieepedia provides some description of his time as a “gladiator” or pit fighter who was trained by the Xonti Brothers. Yet, this source reveals how the comic Doctor Aphra Annual #1 from 2017 provides this backstory. The Xonti brothers ruthlessly trained Krrsantan for arena fighting, including “cybernetically” enhancing his body to make him “a walking weapon.”
Those fighting skills made Black Krrsantan a force to be feared in the pit and beyond it.
3. Krrsantan Worked for Jabba
As Krrsantan transitioned into a bounty hunter, he initially worked for Jabba the Hutt. Impressed by Krrsantan’s skills, Jabba hired Krrsantan to help maintain his criminal empire. This Wookiee bounty hunter took out competitors and reprimanded smugglers who had defied Jabba’s will.
After Jabba died, Krrsantan also worked for Jabba’s cousins, the Hutt Twins. Yet, once Boba Fett entered the scene, Krrsantan changed employers once again.
4. Boba Fett Hired Krrsantan
As depicted in The Book of Boba Fett, Boba Fett wrestled away the Twin’s criminal empire. The Hutts challenged Boba by bringing on Krrsantan to assassinate him. We can relive the action in this clip from “The Streets of Mos Espa” episode. Black Krrsantan nearly succeeded in his task but was captured instead.
Afterward, Fett hired Krrsantan who helped defeat the Pyke Syndicate and secure the Fett gotra on Tatooine.
5. Darth Vader Also Hired Krrsantan
In between all this Hutt activity and switching to Boba’s side, Vader had also hired Krrsantan. On Tatooine, Vader sought out the services of both Krrsantan and Fett. The former was charged with finding an agent of the Emperor called Cyclo.
Cyclo was a scientist trained in cybernetics and even enhanced himself with them. Vader hired Santy to find him and determine what he was doing for the Emperor. Krrsantan did his job skillfully and captured Cyclo for Vader for interrogation.
6. Fight With Obi-Wan
From the comics, we know that Black Krrsantan fought against Obi-Wan. This encounter happened when Krrsantan worked for Jabba who sent him to Owen and Beru Lars on Tatooine. Once Santy kidnapped Owen, Kenobi intervened, and the two engaged in battle.
At first, the stronger Wookiee took the fight to Obi-Wan, but Ben drew on his lightsaber skills and eventually prevailed. The two walked away with a little more respect for one another.
7. Black Krrsantan as “Mad Claw”
We know that Black Krrsantan left his homeworld of Kashyyyk, but don’t know exactly why. One theory posits that he was “forced to leave” by his own people because he had acquired the name of “Mad Claw.” This title referenced how Krrsantan used “his claws in combat,” which was a sign of dishonor and punishable by exile.
Black Krrsantan seems to have also wounded another Wookiee as he left his homeworld before willingly being taken to the Xonti Brothers.
8. Krrsantan Worked With and Hunted Down Aphra
The Doctor Aphra and Darth Vader comics reflect how Black Krrsantan worked alongside Doctor Aphra. The two carried out plans like stealing treasure from criminals. Yet, allies became enemies once Vader sent Santy to capture Aphra. The two did patch things up afterward, though.
9. Fight with Chewbacca
The above ScreenRant article also discloses how Black Krrsantan fought with Chewbacca. This interesting fact, like most, derives from the comics, this time Star Wars #14: War of the Bounty Hunters. As this video recaps, Chewbacca was undermined by a drug injection which allowed Krrsantan to win the fight. Yet, C-P30 took down the Wookiee bounty hunter.
10. His “Knuckle Dusters”
Among Black Krrsantan’s enhancements are his metal-reinforced knuckles. These “knuckle dusters” appear in the comics and in The Book of Boba Fett. They are a final interesting attribute that helps bolster an already formidable Wookiee bounty hunter.
