Lee Jung-jae was quite surprised by the news, Quimir’s actor believed there would be a second season, and the star of the show, Amandla Stenberg, who played the role of the twins, shared her thoughts and feelings about the decision.
Here is what she shared from her Instagram stories.
In her Instagram stories, Stenberg began by thanking The Acolyte fans who have been supporting the series and the cast. She expressed her sadness over the series ending, stating that Disney has decided not to proceed with a second season.
Amandla Stenberg began by thanking The Acolyte fans for their support of the series and the cast. She expressed her sadness, noting that Disney has decided there will be no season 2, bringing the series to an end.
After that, she openly acknowledged, “I’m really transparent.”
Amandla Stenberg continued, “Our Star Wars show has been canceled. And I’m gonna say, I’m really transparent, and say that it’s not a huge shock for me.”
Stenberg also stated in her video “Of course, I live in the bubble of my own reality, but for those who aren’t aware, there has been a rampage of vitriol that we have faced since the show was even announced, when it was still just a concept, no one had even seen it. That’s when we started experiencing a rampage of, I would say, hyper-conservative bigotry and vitriol, prejudice, hatred, and hateful language towards us. This really affected me when I first got the job, because it’s just not something even though I anticipated it happening, it’s not something you can fully understand what it feels like until it’s happening to you.”
Following Amandla Stenberg’s statement about the cancellation of Star Wars: The Acolyte, Ahmed Best, widely known for voicing and performing motion capture for Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars franchise, showed his support.
He expressed, “I will always stand in solidarity with artists who give 110% to their work and art. Keep shining, queen.”
