After eliminating all the clone troopers and replacing them with Stormtroopers, we believed the Empire had abandoned the cloning program.
However, in the story I’m about to share, the Empire continues to pursue cloning, this time in secret.
The secret project involves creating a clone of Boba Fett, inspired by the Star Wars Legends 2010 comic series called Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II.
In these comics, the Empire clones Boba Fett without capturing him and how Boba reacts when he uncovers this hidden endeavor.
A Mission from Darth Vader Leads Boba Fett to the Empire’s Cloning Facility
In the beginning of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, we find Boba Fett enjoying some downtime with a female bounty hunter, sharing a moment of fun. Suddenly, Boba receives a call from Darth Vader.
Answering the call, Vader assigns Boba a mission, promising him triple the usual pay. The task is to retrieve a clone of Starkiller.
Starkiller, whose real name is Galen Marek, was a human male Force-sensitive who served as Darth Vader’s personal assassin.
Starkiller met his end heroically, blocking Force lightning from Palpatine to save Jedi Master Rahm Kota.
However, before his death, the Empire had secretly begun cloning Starkiller.
The project was plagued with failures, as most clones turned out unstable and were ultimately killed by Vader.
However, there was one clone of Starkiller that, while not perfect, was better than the others.
Darth Vader, still recovering and not in top condition, decided to eliminate this clone. But the clone fought back.
Unleashing a powerful Force lightning attack, the clone disabled Vader’s movements and managed to escape.
With the Starkiller clone now on the loose, Darth Vader urgently needed Boba Fett to track down and capture the runaway clone.
Boba Fett Found Out the Empire Secretly Cloning Him
Boba Fett and Darth Vader knew that approaching the Starkiller clone wouldn’t be easy.
They needed to exploit his weakness, which turned out to be a girl named Juno Eclipse, Starkiller’s lover.
To draw out Starkiller, Boba captured Juno Eclipse after pinpointing her location in the Outer Rim, where Rebel spaceships were active.
With the assistance of Imperial Troopers, Boba successfully apprehended Juno and brought her back to Kamino, where Darth Vader awaited.
However, Starkiller soon tracked down Boba Fett. To claim the bounty Vader had placed on Starkiller, Boba had no choice but to confront him.
As Starkiller and the Rebel spaceships rained fire upon Boba, he desperately sought refuge in a hidden spot.
There, Boba discovered a narrow hallway inside the Kamino building, which also served as an excellent hiding place.
The hallway led to a room, and Boba’s curiosity grew as he encountered clones who looked remarkably like him. At first, he thought they were Jango Fett’s clones.
Seeking answers, Boba questioned the Imperial scientist overseeing the project.
The revelation stunned him: these were not Jango’s clones; they were Boba Fett’s own genetic duplicates. And the bounty hunter female you mentioned earlier?
She had been hired by the Empire to obtain Boba Fett’s DNA.
Armed with this knowledge, Boba took decisive action: he shot the scientist and incinerated all the clones.
