Mark Hamill shared a memorable story during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1977.
He started with a funny anecdote about Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo. Ford once jokingly threatened George Lucas, saying he would tie Lucas up and make him read the character’s dialogue at gunpoint.
Hamill continued by explaining that the dialogue was challenging to read and remember. Eventually, he reached his limit and begged Lucas to remove one particularly difficult line from the movie.
“I remember there was one line that I just begged him to take out of the screenplay,” Hamill recalled. “He finally did.”
He then shared that he would never forget the line, even in his dreams. The line was: “But we can’t turn back, fear is their greatest defense, I doubt if the actual security there is much greater than on Aquilae or Sullust and what is most likely directed towards a large-scale assault.”
From the interview, Hamill shared many funny behind-the-scenes stories about the characters.
