When it comes to The Rise of Skywalker, we can’t ignore the movie’s many plot holes.
From Palpatine’s mysterious return to how he managed to build an entire fleet of Star Destroyers on Exegol, there are plenty of unanswered questions.
And then there’s the massive Resistance fleet joining Rey over Exegol—popping out of hyperspace without a single collision!
But for the Resistance fleet’s hyperspace arrival, I think I’ve found an answer that just might explain it.
Without further ado…
The Citizens’ Fleet May Have Used Slave Circuits for Hyperspace Precision
If you’re wondering how the Citizens’ Fleet managed that perfectly synchronized hyperspace arrival, let’s dive into one of the most plausible explanations: slave circuits.
In Star Wars Legends, slave circuits allowed fleets to link multiple ships so that one vessel controlled the hyperspace navigation for the entire fleet.
Think of it like a master ship leading the way, with the others “slaved” to its coordinates and timing.
This technology kept ships tightly grouped and moving as one unit, which would have been ideal for a situation as intense as the Battle of Exegol.
The idea here is that instead of each individual pilot calculating their own hyperspace jump, the entire fleet could have synced up under a single control.
If Lando and Chewbacca’s ship acted as the lead vessel, all the other ships would have followed its path and timing perfectly.
This would explain how they popped out of hyperspace in tight formation, holding positions without collisions.
It’s almost like an interstellar version of synchronized swimming, with every ship’s move precisely choreographed.
By imagining the Citizens’ Fleet using slave circuits, we get a satisfying explanation that matches what we see on screen.
This tech would have kept the entire fleet organized, allowing them to arrive in that unforgettable formation we all remember.
And let’s be honest—it answers the big question of how they avoided crashing into one another without some kind of coordination!
Or This Might Just Be Another Plot Hole
First things first, how did Lando and the Citizens’ Fleet even find Exegol?
Early in Episode IX, we see Kylo Ren traversing Mustafar in his quest for an ancient Sith Wayfinder.
It’s mentioned that it took him about a month to locate Exegol, underscoring just how hidden the planet was.
The journey itself wasn’t simple, requiring him to navigate through intense and dangerous space to reach this remote Sith world.
Then Rey makes the journey, and although it’s not exactly easy, it takes her only moments in comparison.
The Resistance’s path is also bumpy, but they manage to follow Rey’s coordinates straight to Exegol.
Finally, Lando arrives with the Citizens’ Fleet, seemingly hyperspacing in without Wayfinders and with no issues.
If they were using the slave circuit, then they’d still need accurate coordinates, right?
Without a Wayfinder, how did Lando manage to lead a massive fleet straight into battle against the First Order on Exegol?
