We may love to praise the Jedi for protecting the Star Wars universe. Yet, several Jedi stand out for their faults and attract the opposite–hatred. From the deception of Pong Krell to the seeming ineptness of Shaak Ti, here are the ten most hated Jedi.
Table of Contents
1. Pong Krell
Pong Krell was a Jedi who betrayed the Jedi, setting up a trend. We may hate him for this betrayal and his disregard for the 501st Clone Trooper division. In this scene, we see the Troopers engage Krell in combat and the latter’s arrogance at being a Jedi, but really a twisted one.
This video recognizes how Krell had the “highest clone casualty rate” of the Grand Army, callously disregarding their lives. Krell is hated for both his plotting to join up with Count Dooku and his destruction of the clones.
2. Ki-Adi Mundi
This article spotlights how Ki-Adi Mundi deserves a spot on the most hated Jedi list. We may agree that Mundi was “easy to hate as a Jedi” because he helped lead to their downfall. He denied the threat of the Sith and Count Dooku until it was too late.
3. Sifo-Dyas
The above article also cites Sifo-Dyas for similar reasons. This Jedi was responsible for ordering “the creation of the Clone Army” only to have it taken away from him by Count Dooku.
We may sympathize with the point of view that Sifo-Dyas was discarded by the Jedi, as Dooku came to believe. Yet, within this potential ostracism, we also detect that Sifo-Dyas did not have his mind set on being a Jedi, or at least leading it in the right direction.
4. Mace Windu
Mace Windu’s name appears on both the most hated and disappointing Jedi lists. The main reason tends to be the same–his negligence and role in allowing the Jedi to become “increasingly arrogant and careless,” which allowed Sidious to weave his web. Windu likewise pushed Anakin away from the Jedi and toward the Sith, even in his refusal to not include Anakin in confronting Palpatine.
5. Luminara Unduli
Luminara Unduli also comes up as a cross-over name for disappointing and hated. We may think of her as cold and detached and thereby allowing the Jedi to devolve. A fan on this post captures why she is so hated in that Unduli represented “the worst of the Jedi way.” She was not only “blind to the rising darkness,” but also careless and arrogant, like Krell.
6. Older Luke Skywalker
Many fans have voiced their disappointment and hatred of older Luke Skywalker in the second and third sequels. The Last Jedi revealed Luke as a cynical shell of what he used to be, and “the destruction of Luke Skywalker’s character” could be one of the most “baffling things Disney has done.”
We can extend this criticism and comment on how older Luke is one of the worst/most hated Jedi because of how he set out to kill Ben Solo. Even though Luke changed his mind, “the damage was already done,” and we can condemn this Luke for “almost single-handedly” unleashing Kylo Ren on his quest to the dark side.
7. Coleman Trebor
We may hate the Jedi Coleman Trebor more for how he was presented in the prequels than for his character attributes. After all, Trebor did try to confront Dooku before Jango Fett killed him, which demonstrates a commitment to the Jedi cause. Yet, he seemed to meet this fate too easily. We may see this as a sign of his weakness or faulty writing.
8. Saesee Tiin
Similarly, Saesee Tiin fell quickly, although to a much more powerful opponent. We may remember Tiin as being among the four Jedi who went to arrest Sidious in his chambers. Tiin entered the fight behind Mace Windu and fell to Palpatine in a matter of moments. On that note, we could criticize Kit Fisto and Agen Kolar too.
9. Starkiller
Starkiller seems to be a bipolar character. Not only did he switch from the light to the dark side and then back again, but he attracts both love and hate. On the side of hatred, some resent how this character is “very universe breaking” or how he “just doesn’t fit into the (Legends) story very well.” Like Trebor, Starkiller may be hated for how he was integrated into the galaxy.
10. Shaak Ti
This Jedi was mostly portrayed in The Clone Wars series and garnered hatred for her lack of action during Order 66. Although regarded for her wisdom and teaching skills, Shaak Ti has been criticized for meditating while the massacre was unleashed. She could have at least put up a better fight with Anakin before he killed her, at least that is a major point of discontent with this Jedi.
