When Maul Met the Ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn

When Maul Met the Ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn

We all know that Maul survived his battle with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan.

Then we saw him again in the final season of the series Star Wars: Clone Wars.

Finally, Maul met his demise when he faced Obi-Wan again in the series Star Wars Rebels.

But have you ever wondered what Maul did before he faced Obi-Wan on Tatooine?

To find out, you need to read “Stories of Jedi & Sith,” starting with the short story “The Ghosts of Maul” by Michael Moreci.

In this short story, Darth Maul embarks on a journey to a forgotten Sith fortress on the desolate planet of Damanos

This journey takes place towards the end of Maul’s life, after he has abandoned his ties with Crimson Dawn and is now in pursuit of ancient Sith superweapons.

As Maul explores the fortress, he is confronted by apparitions of his past failures.

Each apparition challenges him, forcing him to face the consequences of his actions and the path he has chosen.

The final apparition is different. Instead of a failure or a foe, Maul finds himself face-to-face with the ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn.

Qui-Gon, the Jedi Master Maul killed years ago, stands before him not in anger or vengeance, but in peace. Qui-Gon’s ghostly presence exudes a calm and serene energy, a stark contrast to Maul’s seething anger.

The Jedi Master’s eyes hold no malice, only a deep understanding and sorrow for what Maul has become.

Filled with hatred and bitterness, Maul accuses Qui-Gon of being responsible for his fate. He blames Qui-Gon for his pain and for setting in motion the chain of events that led to his fall.

Qui-Gon, embodying the serene wisdom of the Jedi, responds with empathy and understanding. He tries to make Maul see that his path of vengeance and hatred is self-destructive.

Qui-Gon’s ghost speaks of the potential for redemption and the power of the light side of the Force. He tells Maul that his anger is holding him back and that peace can only be found by letting go of his hatred.

But Maul, consumed by his hatred and anger, attacks Qui-Gon.

As his lightsaber swings through the apparition, Qui-Gon vanishes, taking with him the dark side power of the Sith castle. Maul is left alone, bewildered and defeated.
