Why Does Kylo Ren’s Lightsaber Look Different?

Why Does Kylo Ren’s Lightsaber Look Different?

Kylo Ren’s lightsaber, distinguished by its fiery blade and erratic energy, is a direct reflection of his turbulent descent into the dark side.

Unlike traditional Sith lightsabers, Ren’s weapon is unique due to his method of corrupting the kyber crystal with raw hatred and anger, causing it to “bleed” and crack.

This lightsaber not only marks his break from his Jedi past but also mirrors his inner conflict and search for a new identity under the dark shadow of legacy and power.

Kylo Ren’s lightsaber, a vivid emblem of his internal conflict, embodies both his pursuit of power and the deep-seated fractures within his spirit.

Kylo Ren’s journey to the dark side is marked by his adoption of a unique lightsaber, symbolizing his break from the past and his embrace of a new identity.

Unlike other Sith who obtained their kyber crystals by conquering Jedi, Ren chose to corrupt the crystal from his own Jedi lightsaber.

Kylo Ren’s crystal, once vibrant blue, turned crimson through the process of “bleeding.”

However, the corruption was not without consequence; the crystal cracked, leading to the unstable.

To manage the crystal’s volatile power, Ren modified his lightsaber with quillon vents, resulting in the creation of a crossguard lightsaber.

This weapon not only signified his power but also his inner conflict between light and dark. The cracked kyber crystal at its core served as a constant reminder of Ren’s fractured identity and his path of destruction under the tutelage of Snoke, a puppet of the resurrected Darth Sidious.

The Moment When Ben Solo Completely Fell to the Dark Side

Luke Skywalker, the legendary Jedi Master, took it upon himself to train a new generation of Jedi, including his nephew Ben Solo, who was strong with the Force.

During Ben’s training, Luke sensed an unsettling darkness growing within him.

This darkness was not just a fleeting shadow but a deep and powerful presence that seemed to be growing stronger over time.

It was linked to the legacy of Darth Vader, Ben’s grandfather, and was further nurtured by the manipulative Snoke, who sought to turn Ben to the dark side.

The pivotal moment came one night when Luke entered Ben’s quarters while he was sleeping. Driven by a sense of responsibility to the galaxy and the Jedi Order, Luke reached out with the Force to probe Ben’s mind, hoping to gauge the depth of the darkness within him.

What Luke saw was horrifying: visions of death, destruction, and the end of everything Luke had fought to rebuild. He saw Ben Solo at the center of this darkness, leading it.

In a moment of panic and fear for the future, Luke ignited his lightsaber, contemplating ending the threat before it could come to realization.

However, Luke immediately realized his mistake. The idea of killing his nephew, even to prevent potential future dreadfulness, was antithetical to everything he believed in as a Jedi. He deactivated his lightsaber, filled with shame and regret.

But it was too late. Ben awoke, saw Luke with his lightsaber drawn, and felt betrayed. In his eyes, his master, his uncle, the hero of the galaxy, had turned against him.

This perceived betrayal confirmed Snoke’s manipulations and the fears that had been growing within Ben.

Feeling cornered, misunderstood, and abandoned, Ben’s reaction was explosive. He used the Force to bring down the structure around them, leaving Luke unconscious.

When Luke awoke, he found that Ben had destroyed the Jedi temple, killed many of his fellow apprentices.

Following the destruction of the Jedi temple, Ben encountered the last three Jedi, Tai, Voe, and Hennix.

Asserting his dominance, Ben declared, “I am stronger than all three of you combined. Skywalker pretended we were equals, but I was the temple’s top student. I was even stronger than Luke Skywalker when it really counted.”

After this, Ben joined the Knights of Ren and learned from their leader, Ren.

On a mission called Mindsplinter, he met Tai and Voe again. This time, Tai died, leading Ben to fight and beat Ren, making him the new Master of the Knights of Ren.

As the new master, Ben returned to his ship, where he embarked on the dark task of bleeding his kyber crystal, transforming it into a crossguard lightsaber.
