I’ve been re-reading some Star Wars legends, and I can’t get over how terrifying Joruus C’baoth is.
A crazy, mind-controlling clone who wanted to dominate the galaxy—not with armies, but by directly manipulating people.
That’s nightmare fuel.
I put together my thoughts on why I think he’s even scarier than Sidious. Do you think I’m onto something, or am I just overhyping this guy?

The Origins of Joruus C’baoth
Joruus C’baoth was a clone of Jedi Master Jorus C’baoth, created by Emperor Palpatine.
The original Jorus C’baoth led the Outbound Flight, a mission to explore and colonize unknown regions of space.
However, the clone, Joruus, was not a perfect copy.
The cloning process, particularly for Force-sensitive individuals, was flawed, resulting in C’baoth becoming mentally unstable.
Palpatine created Joruus C’baoth as part of his experiments to perfect the cloning of Force users.
After the Battle of Endor and Palpatine’s death, C’baoth took over the Imperial storehouse on the planet Wayland, using his powers to dominate the local population.
When Grand Admiral Thrawn discovered him, C’baoth joined Thrawn’s campaign against the New Republic, driven by his desire for power and control over other Force users.
Why Joruus C’Baoth’s Plan Was More Terrifying Than Darth Sidious’s
Joruus C’baoth’s plans for galactic domination were centered around absolute control and direct manipulation, making them more terrifying than Darth Sidious’s political and military strategies.
While Sidious’s approach involved large-scale manipulation and long-term planning, C’baoth’s methods were invasive, personal, and immediate, presenting a unique and horrifying threat.
Direct Mind Control and Manipulation
C’baoth’s ability to control and manipulate minds was his most terrifying power.
Unlike Sidious, who manipulated events from the shadows, C’baoth exerted direct influence over individuals, completely dominating their thoughts and actions.
This control extended to the point where he could replace entire sections of people’s minds with his own consciousness.
An example of this is General Freja Covell, whose mind C’baoth reshaped to be utterly loyal to him.
This level of invasive control is far more personal and horrifying than Sidious’s political manipulations, which allowed for some degree of resistance.
Creation of a Dark Jedi Army
C’baoth’s ambition to create an army of Dark Jedi was another element that made his plans particularly terrifying.
Dark Jedi, often called “Fallen” Jedi, were usually former Jedi who decided to turn away from the light side of the Force and embrace the dark side instead.
C’baoth sought to capture and corrupt powerful Force users like Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, and her unborn twins, intending to mold them into his apprentices.
This plan differed from Sidious’s Rule of Two, aiming instead to establish a legion of Dark Jedi under his direct command.
The potential for C’baoth to rapidly spread his dark influence through a new order of Dark Jedi posed a significant threat to the galaxy’s balance.
The Impact of Mental Instability
C’baoth’s mental instability added another layer of terror.
His erratic behavior and delusions of grandeur created an unpredictable and dangerous environment.
Unlike Sidious, who was cold and calculating, C’baoth’s madness made him volatile.
This unpredictability would have led to a state of constant fear and chaos under his rule.
His ability to control and redirect entire assault forces, as seen during the attack on Ukio, demonstrated how his instability could cause widespread destruction.
Corruption of the Force
C’baoth’s desire to turn Luke, Leia, and her children to the dark side represented a deep corruption of the Force.
By creating a new order of Dark Jedi, he aimed to twist the very essence of the Jedi tradition.
This corruption threatened to destroy the balance of the Force and plunge the galaxy into darkness for generations.
Unlike Sidious, who sought political and military dominance, C’baoth aimed to corrupt the core of the Jedi Order itself, making his plans more insidious.
How Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade Ended Joruus C’baoth’s Dark Plans
Joruus C’baoth’s reign of terror ended in a climactic battle at Mount Tantiss, where Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade confronted him.
C’baoth, in his madness, aimed to turn them into his apprentices and revealed his secret weapon: a clone of Luke Skywalker named Luuke.
Despite the intense fight, Luke and Mara managed to defeat Luuke, showcasing their combined strength and resolve.
Mara Jade played a crucial role, using Leia Organa Solo’s lightsaber to clear a path through the collapsing ceiling and ultimately delivering the fatal blow to C’baoth.
His death was marked by an explosion of dark side energy, symbolizing the end of his corrupt influence.
This victory ensured that C’baoth’s terrifying plans to create a Dark Jedi army and impose mind control on a galactic scale were thwarted.
The galaxy was spared from the horror of his direct, invasive control.
If you don’t know who Mara Jade is, she actually developed a romantic relationship with Luke Skywalker and they even got married. To learn more about their interesting love story, click here.
