Ewan McGregor Recalls Star Wars Stunt Double Breaking His Teeth in Iconic Rain Fight: ‘I’m Alright Mum’

One of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s most physical scenes in Attack of the Clones happens on Kamino, when he tries to stop Jango Fett from escaping.

At that point in the film, Obi-Wan has already followed the trail from the assassination attempt on Padmé Amidala to Kamino. There, he discovers the clone army, meets Jango Fett, and quickly realizes that Jango is connected to the mystery he has been investigating. When the Jedi Council orders Obi-Wan to bring Jango in for questioning, Jango is already preparing to leave with Boba.

That leads to the rain fight on the Kamino landing platform.

The scene is short, but it is one of the roughest Obi-Wan fights in the prequel trilogy. Obi-Wan is fighting a heavily armed bounty hunter in full armor, in pouring rain, on a slippery platform, while Boba fires at him from Slave I. Jango uses his jetpack, blasters, cable, armor, and pure close-range fighting to keep Obi-Wan from taking control of the fight.

At Fan Expo Chicago 2025, McGregor was asked about injuries during his time filming Star Wars. Instead of talking about a lightsaber accident, he remembered what happened to his longtime stunt double, Nash Edgerton, while filming the Kamino fight.

McGregor explained that Edgerton had doubled for him for years on Star Wars. During the Jango Fett rain fight, Edgerton had to perform one of Obi-Wan’s bigger stunt moves. McGregor described it as a big backflip. The problem was that Edgerton landed badly.

He broke his teeth.

According to McGregor, Edgerton’s mother was visiting the set that day. So after taking the hit and breaking his teeth, Edgerton’s first reaction was not to panic in front of everyone. He tried to reassure his mother.

“I’m alright mum!”

McGregor said Edgerton was clearly not alright. Someone apparently had to take his mother away from the scene for a cup of tea while the crew dealt with the injury. McGregor remembered it as a serious hit, saying Edgerton really hurt himself.

In the finished movie, the scene moves fast. Obi-Wan gets knocked down, dragged, thrown, and nearly blasted off the platform. Jango keeps forcing him into messy, physical combat, and the rain makes every movement look heavier.

But behind one of those stunt moments was Edgerton taking a real impact hard enough to damage his teeth.

McGregor also made it clear that Edgerton recovered from it. He joked that Nash is fine now and has “lovely teeth.” But the story shows how much of that rain fight came from actual stunt work, not just digital effects or clever editing.
