How Good of a Pilot was Yoda?

How Good of a Pilot was Yoda?

Traveling through the galaxy is a task that most people take part in throughout their lives in the Star Wars universe.

No one knows this better than Jedi Grand Master Yoda, who made great expeditions through the galaxy.

Whether they are a Jedi, Sith, bounty hunter, or any other person for that matter, you would need a way to get around during these travels.

This is why each side of the galaxy (the Galactic Republic or the Galactic Empire) has an arsenal of pilots who take care of safe transportation.

What’s more, when the Republic, or Empire, was in the middle of a battle they would need air support. This is where the fighter pilots would shine.

Of course, some pilots have undoubtedly left an impression on the Star Wars fandom. Still, there are some questions that arise in this regard.

Was Yoda a good pilot? Who were the best pilots in Star Wars? These questions and more would be answered as we go further into this article.

How Good of a Pilot Was Yoda?

Yoda and his Force Vision

Grand Master Yoda was a being of many wonderful attributes.

He was a legend who lived through nine, impressive centuries. This allowed him to not only train but guide generations of Force-sensitives throughout galactic history.

Always speaking in inverted parabolic sentences, Yoda was arguably one of the most important and interesting beings the franchise had to offer.

Given his many talents, many in the Star Wars communities wondered whether or not Yoda was a good pilot. Or if he could even fly a ship for that matter.

So without further ado, let’s dive into the answer we’ve all been searching for.

Can Yoda Fly a Ship?

As if Yoda wasn’t impressive enough already, he can add being a fighter pilot to his repertoire.

Evidence of Yoda flying mainly occurs in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where Yoda would fly around for missions. He was so appreciated as a pilot that he had his own fighter.

It was a Jedi starfighter that was modified with Yoda’s crest on its wings.

Being the pacifist that he was, Yoda didn’t use his starfighter for war. Rather, he and the well-known Droid, R2-D2, went on discovery missions.

One notable planet they journeyed to is that of the Force Priestesses’: Dagobah.

They also went to Moraband, which is a planet that sits on the galaxy’s Outer Rim Territory, and is where the ancient Sith resided.

Who Is the Best Pilot in Star Wars?

In our reality, there are always those who have a stronger inclination to something than another person. Oftentimes, this is a result of dedication, training, and continuous practice.

Naturally, the Star Wars universe is not different, especially when it comes to anything in association with the Force or with battles.

Some beings are more in tune with the Force than others.

Then there are those who weren’t born with an aptitude for the Force (apart from their increased midi-chlorian count). These individuals usually train day in and day out to be the best that they can be.

This certainly extends to the role of a pilot. There are many exceptionally great and noteworthy pilots such as Luke Skywalker, Poe Dameron, and Anakin Skywalker.

Expectedly, a lot of fans often have a couple of questions in mind in regard to this topic. That is, who was the best pilot?

Was it Anakin?

Here’s what we know.

Was Anakin the Best Pilot?

The legend himself, Anakin Skywalker, was dubbed the “chosen one” of the galaxy. Ever since birth, he had been breaking records, starting with his higher-than-average midi-chlorian count.

From there, he achieved even more feats that seemed near impossible at the time.

He graduated from a Padawan to a Jedi Knight in a mere ten years, when some take twice as much time.

As a Jedi Knight, it seemed as though Anakin only got better.

So much so that he was able to do what no one else had: He sat on the Jedi High Council as a Knight.

Granted, he was filling in for Palpatine, but still, this was unheard of at the time.

Added to his arsenal of skills, Anakin has the title of being the best pilot in the galaxy. What’s even more impressive is the fact that he gained this reputation while he was still a Padawan.

FAQs

Just as with everything else that has as large a following as Star Wars, there are a couple of questions that seem to be recurring. These questions can sometimes cause confusion within the community.

This is especially true when it comes to how good a character is at something, or whether or not they are the best in their field.

Thus, in an attempt to alleviate some of this confusion, here’s the answer to one of those questions:

How good of a pilot is Darth Vader?

How Vader HUMILIATED the Best TIE Pilot in the Imperial Navy (Legends)

The Dark Lord, Darth Vader, is without a doubt one of the most interesting characters to come out of the Star Wars franchise.

He is somewhat of an alter ego of Anakin Skywalker who, in his own right, always rebelled against the regular path and teachings a Jedi should follow.

Darth Vader was a result of all the pain, hatred, suffering, and any other negative emotions that Anakin was feeling. Although he was taught, as per the Jedi Code, to flee from all emotions, Anakin decided to do the exact opposite.

In doing so, he not only joined the dark side but became the ruler of it.

The two essentially being one meant that Anakin’s skills were transferable to Darth Vader.

Yet, Darth Vader had a heightened version of Anakin’s skills. Therefore, it’s safe to say that Darth Vader was an exceptional pilot.

He was so good that he even surpassed Han Solo, who at that time seemed to be the best.

Conclusion

The ability to be a pilot is an important factor in fighting for either the light or dark side of the Force.

There are discoveries to be made, planets to explore, and just as importantly: wars to be fought. This is exactly why there are some phenomenal pilots.

Being a man of many awe-inspiring talents, it’s no question that Yoda was also an outstanding pilot.

Naturally, he did not use his skill to fight. Even so, it’s still an impressive feat nonetheless.

When it came to being a fighter pilot, there was no one better suited for the role than Anakin Skywalker and his literal other half, Darth Vader.
