ICYMI: Star Wars Actor Manny Jacinto Has Revealed Beloved Villain Darth Plagueis Would Have Had a Bigger Role in Further Seasons of the Acolyte

Star Wars fans were treated to the live-action debut of Darth Plagueis in the season finale of The Acolyte, but it turns out there was much more in store for the iconic Sith Lord.

During a panel at FanExpo San Francisco, actor Manny Jacinto, who played Qimir in the series, revealed that Darth Plagueis was intended to have a larger role in future seasons—if the show had continued.

Jacinto was careful not to reveal too much, but he hinted at the series’ ambitions. “There was definitely going to be more of Plagueis in the second, or if not, the third seasons of the show,” Jacinto shared. “We wanted to explore him in greater depth, but I can’t say much more, because who knows? We could come back.

When asked about the connection between his character, Qimir, and Darth Plagueis, Jacinto clarified, “They’re not connected. Not directly. But there were definitely ideas and theories floating around.”

This uncertainty surrounding Qimir’s true identity—and how it might have intersected with Plagueis—only adds to the mystery surrounding the series’ untapped potential.

The cancellation of The Acolyte has left many fans and cast members frustrated. Sol actor Lee Jung-Jae expressed surprise at the decision, while creator Leslye Headland had reportedly begun planning a second season before the first had even premiered.

Darth Plagueis, renowned for his mastery over life and death, is one of Star Wars’ most intriguing figures.

While The Acolyte provided only a glimpse of his character, Jacinto’s comments suggest there was much more to explore about the Sith Lord’s influence during the High Republic era.

For now, fans are left to wonder what could have been. Would Plagueis have played a pivotal role in shaping the galaxy’s destiny once more?

Or was his brief appearance meant to remain a tantalizing glimpse of his story?

Until we see his return in another project, the legend of Darth Plagueis continues to fuel speculation and curiosity across the Star Wars fandom.
