The FIRST Jedi Anakin Skywalker Killed During Order 66

Greetings, Star Wars aficionados! Today, we delve into one of the darker chapters of the Star Wars saga—Order 66—as detailed in the Official Novelization of Revenge of the Sith.

We spotlight a particularly tragic figure in this narrative: Gate Master Jurokk, whose death marks not only a significant moment in the purge but also the stark transformation of Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader.

Jurokk’s Role in the Jedi Order

Jurokk, a human male, held the position of Gate Master at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant by 22 BBY.

This crucial role within the Temple Security Force made him responsible for monitoring the entrance to the stronghold of the Jedi, ensuring its security during increasingly turbulent times.

His duties placed him at the very heart of the Jedi’s defense, especially as the Clone Wars drew to a close.

The pivotal moment came in 19 BBY, shortly after Anakin Skywalker disclosed to Mace Windu that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was, in fact, the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious.

As Windu and others attempted to arrest Palpatine, Jurokk, alongside Jedi Master Shaak Ti, was tasked with defending the Temple. During this critical period, Jurokk spotted Anakin approaching the Temple on a security monitor and rushed to confront him at the gate.

The Death of Jurokk

The confrontation between Anakin and Jurokk unfurled rapidly at the gates of the Jedi Temple, carrying with it an undercurrent of dread. As Jurokk confronted the young Jedi Knight, Anakin’s response was eerily detached; he merely questioned the whereabouts of Shaak Ti.

When Jurokk disclosed that she was meditating in her quarters, his suspicion escalated, and a palpable tension filled the air. With his security instincts peaking, Jurokk noticed the foreboding silhouettes of clone troopers gathering behind Anakin—a sinister backdrop to the unfolding drama.

Yet, despite his seasoned intuition, Jurokk was utterly unprepared for the grim developments that were about to unfold.

In a horrifying twist of fate, Anakin, now shrouded in the dark side and reborn as Darth Vader, revealed his complete transformation. With sinister calm, Vader responded to Jurokk’s urgent questions with cold, dismissive retorts, his voice a dark echo of his former self.

Before Jurokk could react to the full horror of the situation, Vader’s lightsaber sprang to life, its blade igniting just under the Gate Master’s chin—a brutal and intimate betrayal.

The light from the saber cast a grim glow, and the last thing Jurokk heard before the fatal strike was Vader’s chilling words: “You have no idea.”

It was a statement that cut deeper than the blade itself, signaling not just the end of Jurokk’s life, but the death of the peace the Jedi had fought so long to maintain.

Vader’s swift execution of Jurokk was not just an assassination; it was the symbolic shattering of the Jedi Order’s defenses, with their own prodigy wielding the hammer.

Jurokk’s demise marked the ominous beginning of the Temple’s fall and underscored the cataclysmic shift in the galaxy.

It was a moment that crystallized the stark reality of the Jedi’s annihilation—a potent mix of personal betrayal and the broader tragedy of the Republic’s collapse.
