The LONE Jedi who Tried to Take Back the Jedi Temple After Order 66

After Order 66, Darth Vader and the 501st Legion seized the Jedi Temple and slaughtered nearly everyone inside. The clones then dragged the bodies of the dead Jedi onto the Temple steps and burned them in front of the people of Coruscant.

Several Jedi survivors were secretly standing within the crowd, watching the destruction of their Order. However, only one of them was willing to reveal himself and attempt to reclaim the Temple.

Who was the lone Jedi who tried to rally the survivors and take it back?

Several Jedi Survivors Were Hiding in the Crowd

In Star Wars: Republic #80, the Jedi Temple was still burning when several survivors returned to Coruscant and witnessed what the Empire had done.

Among those hiding in the crowd were Kai Hudorra and the young Padawan Noirah Na. Other surviving Jedi, including Dass Jennir, Koffi Arana and Shadday Potkin, were also nearby.

They watched as clone troopers guarded the Temple and burned the bodies of the Jedi who had been killed during the attack. The Empire was not simply disposing of the dead. It was displaying the destruction of the Jedi Order in front of the capital.

One unnamed Jedi sensed that other survivors were concealed among the civilians.

Rather than remain hidden, he stepped forward and ignited his lightsaber. He called upon the surviving Jedi to reveal themselves, avenge their murdered brothers and sisters and help him reclaim their Temple.

He believed that if the remaining Jedi fought together, they could still strike back against the clones occupying their home. But no one answered him.

The other survivors understood that the Temple was already lost. The entrance was controlled by armed clone troopers, the Order had been declared an enemy of the Republic and any Jedi who revealed themselves would immediately be killed.

The unnamed Jedi refused to accept that.

He Charged the Temple Alone

When none of the hidden Jedi joined him, the Jedi turned toward the Temple and charged the clone troopers by himself.

He raced up the steps with his lightsaber drawn and managed to kill one of the soldiers guarding the entrance. However, the remaining clones quickly surrounded him and opened fire.

He was struck repeatedly by blaster bolts and killed within moments.

The clones then picked up his body and threw it onto the same burning pile as the Jedi who had died inside the Temple.

The surviving Jedi remained hidden in the crowd and watched him burn.

Kai Hudorra took the Jedi’s death as proof that the Order was finished. Rather than lead Noirah into the same fate, he later threw away their lightsabers and told her that they could no longer live as Jedi.

Dass Jennir made a different choice. He did not abandon everything the Jedi had represented, but he understood that dying on the Temple steps would accomplish nothing. Instead, he survived and continued resisting the Empire elsewhere.

The comic never reveals the identity of the Jedi who attacked the Temple. His name, rank and history remain unknown.

All that is known is that while several Jedi survivors watched their home burn, he was the only one who stepped forward and tried to take it back.

He could not save the Jedi Temple, but he refused to stand silently while the bodies of his Order burned outside it.
