The Only Sith Title More Feared Than Darth

Most Sith were known by the title Darth. It was the name they took after leaving their old identity behind, and it marked them as servants of the dark side. Darth Sidious, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and Darth Bane all carried it.

But in Legends, the Sith had another title tied to something much older than the Rule of Two.

Darth Was The Title Every Sith Wanted

Darth was the title of a Sith Lord. When Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, the name marked the death of his old Jedi identity. When Dooku became Darth Tyranus, it marked his break from the Order he once served. When Palpatine used Darth Sidious, it was the Sith name hidden behind the public face of the Chancellor.

The title carried power because it meant the person had entered the Sith tradition. But it was still a title that could be given to more than one Sith. Vader had it. Sidious had it. Maul had it. Tyranus had it. Bane, Revan, Malak, Plagueis, and countless Sith before them carried it in Legends.

That is the limit of Darth. It identified someone as a Sith Lord, but it did not mean they were the perfect Sith, the final Sith, or the one figure every Sith prophecy pointed toward.

The Sith’ari was different.

Sith’ari Was The Prophecy Above Darth

In Legends, the title above Darth was Sith’ari. Darth was a Sith name. Sith’ari was a prophecy. The word meant “the Lord” or “Overlord,” and it described a being the Sith believed would rise beyond ordinary Sith Lords.

The prophecy said the Sith’ari would be free of limits, lead the Sith, destroy the Sith, and then make them stronger than before.

Darth Bane became the strongest Legends example. The Sith of his era were trapped inside the Brotherhood of Darkness, where thousands of Sith fought under one banner but weakened each other through rivalry, compromise, and shared power.

Bane destroyed that entire order.

After the thought bomb wiped out the Brotherhood, Bane rebuilt the Sith around the Rule of Two: one master to hold power, one apprentice to crave it. The Sith lost their armies, temples, and open empire, but they became harder to detect and harder to destroy.

On Exegol, a Sith scroll later suggested that Darth Sidious believed Anakin Skywalker was the foretold Sith’ari.

Anakin became Darth Vader, helped Sidious destroy the Jedi Order, then killed Sidious at Endor and died in the same act. The Sith line that began with Bane ended through Vader’s final choice.
