Did Qui-Gon Still Believe Anakin Was the Chosen One After Order 66?

I’ve been spiraling on this idea: Qui-Gon Jinn knew Anakin’s destiny wasn’t a straight line to heroism.

Even after he became a Force ghost, his belief in the Chosen One prophecy didn’t seem to waver. Maybe he saw Order 66 and Vader as part of a tragic but necessary path to balance the Force. It’s like Qui-Gon trusted the Force’s vision more than the Jedi ever did.

Am I crazy, or does this make total sense?

Qui-Gon’s Insight into the Force and the Future

Qui-Gon Jinn, the first Jedi known to retain his identity after death through teachings from a Shaman of the Whills, initially could only manifest as a disembodied voice after being killed by Darth Maul.

His spiritual journey didn’t end there; driven by Anakin’s fall, he continued his training posthumously, eventually appearing nearly corporeally to Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine decades later.

His encounters with Anakin also included a significant moment on Mortis, where Qui-Gon encouraged Anakin to trust his instincts—further demonstrating his ongoing belief in Anakin’s essential role.

His status as a Force ghost provided Qui-Gon with an enhanced perspective, allowing him to see both the future and the present with unprecedented clarity.

This likely reinforced his belief in Anakin’s central role in the Force, despite Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader and the horrors of Order 66, which he viewed as part of a greater cosmic plan.

The Nature of the “Chosen One” Prophecy and the Balance of the Force

Qui-Gon’s understanding of the prophecy did not simply foresee the eradication of the dark side but rather emphasized the crucial balance between dark and light within the Force.

This nuanced view, echoed by other Jedi like Yoda, acknowledges that “a prophecy misread could have been.”

Qui-Gon might have seen Anakin’s actions as a tragic but necessary passage to ultimate balance.

The mass eradication of the Jedi, as horrific as it was, led to a scenario where the Sith and Jedi forces were numerically and influentially rebalanced, setting the stage for new growth and eventual equilibrium within the Force.

Qui-Gon’s Faith in Anakin’s Path to Redemption

The prophecy about Anakin Skywalker puzzled even the most knowledgeable Jedi, unfolding in ways that surprised those who believed they understood the Force’s intentions.

Observing from beyond death, Qui-Gon Jinn, with a clearer and deeper perspective of the universal flow, likely grasped the full scope of Anakin’s fate.

Anakin’s path—from his rise and fall to his ultimate redemption—was a series of interconnected events that the Force predicted but were often misread by the Jedi.

This highlights an aspect of the Force: its communications are complex and its visions are not always immediately understandable.

Qui-Gon, with his enhanced connection to the Force, might have seen not just the tragedy of Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader but also his crucial role in both the Jedi’s devastation and eventual defeat of the Sith.

This understanding allowed Qui-Gon to recognize the tragic necessity of Anakin’s darkest actions, which paradoxically set the stage for his redemptive acts and the fulfillment of the prophecy.
