Why Daki IMMEDIATELY Knew Vader was a SITH LORD

Daki had never met Darth Vader, did not know the name behind the armor, and had no reason to recognize Palpatine’s new apprentice. Yet after facing him only once, the Jedi Master immediately understood that this was no ordinary Imperial hunter. What did Daki sense in Vader that exposed him as a Sith Lord?

Daki Had Already Seen What an Inquisitor Could Do

Before Darth Vader appeared, Daki already had a direct example of how the Empire’s Inquisitors fought. In the tunnels beneath Janix, he sensed Marrok and the Eleventh Brother approaching before they attacked. Daki ignited his lightsaber, protected Devon, and remained behind while the others crossed the pool of toxic waste. Maul fought Marrok nearby as Daki helped hold the Imperial hunters back long enough for Devon to escape.

Both Inquisitors were dangerous. Marrok was one of Vader’s Jedi hunters, while the Eleventh Brother was considered among the most feared members of the Inquisitorius. However, Daki could still understand what they were. They used red lightsabers, relied on aggression, and had been trained to pursue surviving Jedi, but they were servants carrying out the commands of someone above them.

Vader’s arrival felt completely different. Rook Kast went ahead to scout through the fog, only for the others to hear her scream before Vader emerged. When Maul attacked him, Vader drove through his defense and continued advancing against Maul, Daki, and Devon together. Maul recognized the difference during the fight, telling him, “You’re no Inquisitor,” before demanding to know what he was. The creators described the scene the same way: within moments, the masked attacker proved that he was neither a Jedi nor an Inquisitor.

Daki therefore was not guessing from Vader’s armor or red blade. He had just faced the Inquisitors sent to hunt them and then encountered the warrior who stood above them. After surviving their first clash, Daki warned Devon that this enemy was “something different.” His instincts gave him the answer the others feared to accept: they were facing a Dark Lord of the Sith.

Vader Knew How Jedi Thought and Fought

What finally exposed Vader was not only his strength, but the way he used it. During the fight, he reacted to the Jedi as though he already knew what they would attempt before they moved. Their attacks did not surprise him, and their familiar techniques gave them no advantage because Vader understood the training behind every strike.

Daki was an experienced Jedi Master, so he could recognize that this knowledge went far beyond what the Inquisitors had learned. The Inquisitors were former Jedi trained to hunt survivors, but Vader combined that same understanding of Jedi combat with far greater control of the dark side. He could read their movements, counter their attacks, and pressure several opponents without fighting wildly or losing control.

After they escaped the first clash, Daki admitted that he feared what his instincts were telling him. Vader’s presence was too powerful for an ordinary Imperial hunter, while his movements revealed someone who had been trained in the Jedi arts before mastering the dark side. That combination left only one explanation: the masked warrior was a Dark Lord of the Sith.
