Let me correct Luke Skywalker when he said “What a piece of junk!” Correction, it’s our beloved piece of junk, and “she’s got it where it counts” as Han would say.

This set has 1,329 pieces. It also includes 7 characters: Han, Chewbacca, Rey, Finn, BB-8, Tasu Leech, and a Kanjiklub gang member.

Parents and kids love bonding over building this ship. So it’s for people across ages, making it a terrific gift for all Star Wars fans.

This set stands at 5 inches high, 18 inches long, and 12 inches wide. It would be a great display piece when completed.

If you want to collect Star Wars LEGO sets, this ought to be a staple piece.

What we like:

  • Some of the main characters are included.
  • The interior is incredibly detailed.
  • The shooters are dual spring-loaded.
  • The cockpit is detachable.

What we don’t like:

  • Makes for a good display piece, but kids should be careful when playing with it since it is fragile.

2. Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle 75156

LEGO Star Wars Krennic's Imperial Shuttle 75156 Star Wars Toy

  • Featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  • Includes Pao, Director Krennic, Bodhi Rook and 2 Imperial Death Troopers, plus K-2SO droid
  • LEGO Star Wars building toys are compatible with all LEGO construction sets for creative building

Rogue One is my favorite Star Wars film so I can recognize Orson Krennic’s ship design off the bat.

While this isn’t exactly one of the most iconic ships in the franchise, I still stand with putting this LEGO set in second place.

For one, it’s quite a large model that just looks marvelous and sleek. The black color makes it look a bit like a blackbird with enormous folding wings.

There are 863 pieces in this set and it includes Director Krennic, Pao, K-2SO, Bodhi Rook, and 2 Imperial Death Troopers.

When in flying mode, it stands at 17 inches high, 9 inches long, and 22 inches wide. In landing mode, it’s 12 inches high and 7 inches wide, which is still quite large.

Make sure that you make space to display this ship.

What we like:

  • The wings are large and foldable.
  • The shooters are dual spring-loaded.
  • Its landing skids are also retractable.
  • The front and side panels can be opened.

What we don’t like:

  • It’s heavy so kids might find it difficult to play with.

  • This Death Star includes key locations and features from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi; plus all of your favorite star wars character miniatures

This sinister space station needs no introduction. For collectors and fanatics, this would be an essential piece.

It’s also quite a challenge to build since it has 4,016 pieces. It’s incredibly detailed and I know you’ll recognize the different rooms.

I’m sure you remember the trash compactor scene. It’s included here, too!

There’s also the detention block, Palpatine’s throne room, the imperial conference chamber, the super laser control room, and the movable turbo laser towers.

The turbo lasers have spring-loaded shooters and seats, which is a fun addition for play. Best of all, Vader’s TIE advanced is included, and you can even put him inside!

If you think that’s awesome, there are 25 characters included:

  • R2-D2
  • C-3PO
  • Chewbacca
  • Han Solo
  • Han Solo in disguise
  • Luke Skywalker (Tatooine)
  • Luke Skywalker (Final duel)
  • Luke Skywalker in disguise

  • Emperor Palpatine

With all these characters, you can surely recreate the sequences and events!

What we like:

  • Detailed and has plenty of characters in the set.
  • The Death Star is an iconic Star Wars space station.
  • Enjoy for days and days as this requires more time to build.

What we don’t like:

  • The only problem is that it has been discontinued, so you’ll have to buy it from other sellers.

4. Poe’s X-wing Fighter 75102

LEGO Star Wars Poes X-Wing Fighter 75102 Building Kit
  • Build Poe Dameron’s signature X-Wing Fighter, featuring four spring-loaded shooters and opening wings
  • Featured in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens
  • Includes Poe Dameron, Resistance ground crew, Resistance X-Wing pilot and a BB-8 Astromech Droid
  • LEGO Star Wars building toys are compatible with all LEGO construction sets for creative building

Princess Leia told Poe once that there are things that can’t be solved by jumping in an X-wing and something up. Well, that may be true but there’s nothing more satisfying than Poe in an X-wing.

Fans of Poe will love this set. Even if he isn’t your favorite character, the X-wing fighter itself is awesomely designed.

The wings for this set can be opened just like the real thing. There are also 4 spring-loaded shooters, adding to the fun experience.

It’s also an easier piece to build with 717 pieces. Included in the set are BB-8, a Resistance ground crew, a Resistance X-wing pilot, and, of course, Poe Dameron.

What we like:

  • Incredibly detailed
  • BB-8 fits behind the cockpit!
  • Fantastic color scheme and overall design.

What we don’t like:

  • It’s quicker to put together in comparison to other sets. But if this is your first set, it would be a great piece to start with!

5. AT-ST Walker 75153

LEGO Star Wars at-ST Walker 75153 Star Wars Toy
  • Build the AT-ST Walker, featuring poseable legs and opening cockpit
  • Featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  • Includes AT-ST Driver, Baze Malbus and Rebel Trooper
  • LEGO Star Wars building toys are compatible with all LEGO construction sets for creative building
  • Measures over 9” high, 6” long and 5” wide

The AT-ST Walker is memorable to me because I remember thinking that it looked like a funny chicken. But after it showed how deadly it was, I immediately changed my mind.

Don’t be fooled by the slow movements, it’s an incredibly destructive machine. Thankfully, its LEGO version is more manageable!

There are only 449 pieces in this set so I’m sure it’s a quick build. If you are intimidated by sets with thousands of pieces, you can start with this instead.

The three characters included are the driver, a Rebel Trooper, and Baze Malbus.

Additional features include dual spring-loaded shooters, elevating front guns, posable legs, a turning top section, and an opening cockpit and top-hatch.

What we like:

  • It’s a fun toy because of all the features.
  • It’s a great gateway piece for those who are beginners with LEGO sets.
  • Instructions are easy to follow.

What we don’t like:

  • Keeping it balanced can be tricky because of the two-legged design.

6. Yoda’s Jedi Starfighter 75168

  • Open the cockpit, load up Yoda and R2-D2, and then fly to the stars
  • Measures over 2" (7cm) high, 5" (15cm) long and 7" (18cm) wide

Yoda collectibles are highly sought after. It’s only right because he’s one of the most memorable and popular characters in the franchise.

This is why his starfighter is high up on this list. It’s a classic but easy to build since it only has 262 pieces.

It’s only 2 inches high, 5 inches long, and 7 inches wide. It’s a manageable size in comparison to the other sets in this list.

For an affordable price, it also comes with a Yoda and R2-D2 figure. Of course, there’s space for both of them on the starfighter.

I highly recommend this as a gift for any Star Wars fan. It isn’t too intimidating to build or store.

What we like:

  • Its wings are foldable.
  • The cockpit can be opened and Yoda fits perfectly inside.

With 630 pieces, this Star Wars LEGO set would be a fun activity for the kiddos. But it’s also fantastic for any age group. I’m not gonna lie, I want this for myself, too!

The unmistakable Sith coloring looks superb. Black, silver, and the blood-red accents and spring-loaded shooters look more sophisticated for a toy.

There are also 4 figures included: a BB-9E, a First Order Stormtrooper, a First Order TIE Fighter pilot, and Kylo Ren, of course.

They also come with a blaster, a laser blaster, and Kylo’s lightsaber. It stands at 4 inches high, 16 inches long, and 9 inches wide.

What we like:

  • Marvelous design and details.

  • Also includes a display stand, decorative fact plaque and a small BB-8 figure
  • BB-8 model does not roll
  • B-8 without stand measures over 9in (25cm) high and 5in (15cm) wide

You’ll recognize this adorable little guy, and it’s a fun gift for anyone who likes Star Wars. Regardless of your opinion on the sequel trilogy, you can’t hate on BB-8.

For a character figure, this comes in a great size. It’s 9 inches high and 5 inches wide, so you’ll be able to see the fine and authentic details.

I’m also decently surprised that there are 1106 pieces in total. This will be a great challenge, but it will be worth the time and effort when it’s complete.

The head rotates and there’s an opening hatch for the toy welding torch inside. For collectors, it comes with a display stand and plaque so you can present in proudly.

What we like:

  • This is a fan favorite and it has consistently received positive reviews from customers.
  • There’s attention to detail when it comes to the design.
  • Was a finalist in the 2018 Toty Toy of the Year Awards.

What we don’t like:

  • Some have said that it wasn’t challenging enough for its price.

9. First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter 75101

LEGO Star Wars First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter 75101 Star Wars Toy

  • Includes two First Order TIE fighter pilots, First Order Officer and First Order Crew
  • LEGO Star Wars building toys are compatible with all LEGO construction sets for creative building
  • This TIE fighter is over 9” high, 7” long and 7” wide

This is another one from the First Order. There’s just something sleek and refined about their design that just does it for me.

Again, it also comes in black, gray, and red coloring. Of course, the hexagon wings are iconic. I guess it’s this recognizable and unique feature that makes it a desired set.

There are only 517 pieces in this set and it might be a good challenge for children. However, it’s not going to be a breeze for adults.

Included in this set are 2 First Order fighter pilots, a First Order officer, and a First Order crew member. There are 2 cockpits for the pilots and two spring-loaded shooters.

What we like:

  • It comes with 4 mini-figures.
  • The design is sleek and unique.
  • Instructions are easy to follow.

What we don’t like:

  • Just remember that this is targeted towards kids, so it’s not going to be challenging for adults.

10. Duel on Naboo 75169

LEGO Star Wars Duel on Naboo 75169 Star Wars Toy
  • Build the epic lightsaber battle scene against Darth Maul, including a minifigure catapult function
  • Featured in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace
  • Includes Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul
  • LEGO Star Wars building toys are compatible with all LEGO construction sets for creative building

This is a great set for those who want to add Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi in their collection. Also, if you’re a fan of any of these guys, it’s going to be a fun toy to play with.

While Episode I isn’t popular with the fanbase, these three characters are staples. It’s also rare to see these characters in other Star Wars LEGO sets. So I think it’s a great opportunity to get a hold of them.

But the base itself has features such as opening gates, a catapult for the Minifigures, and an opening purification chamber with removable plasma.

There are only 208 pieces, and it makes for a speedy build. Still, for such a great scene, I think it makes a fantastic piece since people will recognize it when they see it.

It’s quite small, making it a nice addition to full shelves. You can simply squeeze it in there.

What we like:

  • 3 awesome and rare mini-figures
  • Authentic and recognizable from the movie.
  • Easy to build

What we don’t like:

  • It’s smaller than other sets.

Boba Fett is a mysterious character, and more can be known about him if you do a little bit of digging. Anyway, in Empire Strikes Back, we were able to see his awesome ship.

In comparison to ships from the Empire, the First Order, or even the rebels, Boba Fett’s ship looks more worn down. It’s a perfect design for a bounty hunter who’s always in the middle of battle.

This particular set has 1,996 pieces. It also comes with a stand so you can display the finished product!

For collectors and even for playtime, you’ll be glad about the 4 mini-figures included in this pack: a Bespin guard, a Stormtrooper, Han Solo, and Boba Fett are all inside the box.

You’ll also get a Stormtrooper, Commander Gregor, Commander Wolffe, Imperial Inquisitor Fifth Brother, and Captain Rex.

There are only 972 pieces in total making it a quick build. Even with a few pieces, there are several cool features like 2 blasters, 2 blaster rifles, and a lightsaber for the Fifth Brother.

If you don’t know it yet, TIE stands for Twin Ion Engine. Anyway, it’s usually used for smaller fighter or bomber crafts.

This particular set is the TIE Striker. Again, just like many of the crafts from the Empire, it’s very sleek in design and color scheme.

This has large foldable wings so you can pose it in any way you like for display. You can easily build this set because it only has 543 pieces.

Minifigures include the TIE pilot, an Imperial ground crew, an Imperial Stormtrooper, and a Rebel Trooper in Endor outfit.

This unforgettable scene getting a Star Wars LEGO set makes me so happy because I want to get my hands on it so bad. It’s a scene ingrained in our minds making it a sought after piece for fans.

Just like other sets dedicated to iconic movie scenes, it’s quite small in size and there are only 282 pieces.

Of course, to keep it accurate, this set comes with 2 medical droids, Emperor Palpatine, Anakin Skywalker, and Darth Vader.

It would be fun to recreate the transformation and his fantastic resounding “NO” at the end of Episode III.

What we like:

  • Detailed character design for the mini-figures
  • Great features to make it playable
  • Very easy to build

What we don’t like:

The First Order has some pretty nifty crafts in their arsenal. So I’m not surprised that Kylo’s Command Shuttle would look astonishing and formidable at the same time.

Thankfully building it isn’t as frightening as it looks. There are 1,005 pieces and it’s easy to follow the instructions.

It’s quite a large vessel standing at 11 inches in height if the wings are retracted. But if you extend the wings, it’s 15 inches tall.

It’s also 8 inches long and 7 inches wide. So I don’t doubt that it’s going to take up space.

The following mini-figures are included in this set: Kylo Ren, General Hux, First Order Officer, 2 First Order Crew, and a First Order Stormtrooper Officer.

  • Weapons include 2 blasters and 2 blaster pistols
  • Lift the elevator and seat Snoke in his chamber

This is another set from the First Order. Specifically, it’s a Star Destroyer from Episode VIII.

That diamond shape is unmistakable so it’s a great piece for a collector. It’s something that you can easily recognize.

It’s decently challenging for kids as it has 1,416 pieces. It’s a productive way for them to spend their time while feeling excited and entertained.

The mini-figures included in this set are Snoke, a First Order Officer, a First Order Stormtrooper Sergeant, a First Order Stormtrooper, a First Order Shuttle Pilot, BB-9E and buildable Medical Droid figures.

You can open the top panels and see the interior. It’s nice and detailed inside, and you can put the mini-figures in some of the compartments.

It also has 8 side-firing stud shooters. There’s also an elevator and seat for Snoke!

What we like:

  • Several mini-figures to play with and set inside the craft.
  • Nicely detailed design and features.
  • A fun and age-appropriate challenge for kids
  • Several features to make it more fun to play with.

What we don’t like:

  • This set is fragile so it’s important to play gently.

  • This LEGO Star Wars Droid Gunship 75233 play set kit includes lots of original LEGO bricks for endless creative building and imaginative play

Finally, the last on our list is a Droid Gunship that you might recognize from Revenge of the Sith.

In terms of design, it’s unique because of the donut-like shape and neat color scheme.

If you haven’t had experience with building Star Wars LEGO ships before, this would be a great piece to start.

There are only 329 pieces in this set so it won’t be too intimidating for younger kids.

What I like about this piece is that it’s great for playing. Not all sets are made for that in mind, but this one isn’t so fragile for playtime.

It also includes the mini-figures of Yoda, Chief Tarfful, and 2 Kashyyyk Battle Droids. Add the stud shooters, 8 flick missiles, and an opening cockpit, I’m sure playtime will be a blast.

What we like:

  • Easy to build. Great for first time builders.
  • There are 4 mini-figures and additional fantastic features to play with.
  • The design and coloring are unique.
  • Its size is great for playing.

What we don’t like:

  • Some might think that this set is too small.

Wrapping up…

Okay, I’ve got to hand it to LEGO, for many years, they’ve made so many Star Wars sets that just soar in popularity.

Every Christmas, the demand for Star Wars toys is just astounding. That being said, deciding on the best set is quite the conundrum.

Kids and adults are likely to have different wants and tastes. If you’re looking for something to gift younger children, I highly suggest that you get something easier to build but also sturdy.

Adults are probably going to get this for their collection, so it’s best to get something accurate in terms of design.

It should also be challenging to build because let’s get real, building the LEGO set is 90% the fun part.

Still, for Star Wars LEGO newbies, I suggest getting classic sets like the Millenium Falcon. You can’t go wrong!
