How Powerful Was Luke in The Last Jedi?

How Powerful Was Luke in The Last Jedi?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi follows the progression of Luke Skywalker.

After the carnage of the Great Jedi Purge, Luke was left to rebuild the Jedi Order and by extension the entire Jedi lineage.

In The Last Jedi, Luke enjoyed the spoils of his labor as he could lead a peaceful existence. Away from the distractions of others in the galaxy. That was until Rey came bouncing into his life.

She was adamant about learning the ways of the Jedi and the light side of the Force at large. Which, in hindsight, bode well for them; this is because they didn’t know that there was a war brewing elsewhere.

Armitage Hux and Kylo Ren, also known as Ben Solo, used the First Order to launch their attack against the Resistance.

The Resistance was led by Leia Organa, affectionately called Princess Leia. This was done to counter the strides made by the First Order for rulership of the galaxy.

Certainly, this level of defense would be no easy feat. It would require a particular skill set that not everyone could attain.

This begs the question, how powerful was Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi.

Ask, and it shall be answered!

Keep reading as we dive into this topic.

What power did Luke use in The Last Jedi?

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi Luke Skywalker used a Force ability known as Force Projection. What is Force Projection you may ask?

Let me explain.

Also called Similfuturus, Force Projection is hugely similar to holograms. It allowed the Jedi to use it to create a copy of themself. Granted, this copy would be purely for show or to get a message across, but a copy nonetheless.

From there, the now created double of the Jedi can be transmitted to any point over a vastly wide distance,

This Force technique required a certain level of concentration and connection to the Force that any and every Jedi does not yet possess. To tap into this power must be able to not only study but live the sacred Jedi Texts

For that reason, Force Projection was easily used by Jedi Master, Luke skywalker. He demonstrated his ability to tap into this skill during the Battle of Crait

This worked in tandem with his already established Force techniques to aid his team during the fight.

With the addition of Force Projection to his repertoire, Luke Skywalker became more powerful than he already was.

Like a fine wine, he started from a good place in terms of strength in the Force and seemed to blossom the more time passed.

In addition to that, Luke has the blood of the most powerful Jedi Knight turned Sith Lord coursing through his veins. Of course, this overpowered, yet incredible is none other than Anakin Skywalker

Known by his newly appointed and outrageously iconic title, Darth Vader, Luke’s father has been a force to be reckoned with ever since his days as a Padawan

Luke Skywalker wasn’t that far off from his father. He was able to master and use the Force to the benefit of himself and those he has to protect.

Moreover, Luke did all that while remaining on the light side of the Force. Luckily for him, he did not inherit Darth Vader’s anger issues and inclination to rebel.

This level of control and discipline alone proves just how insanely powerful Luke Skywalker truly was, ever since the days of the Star Wars canon.

Even though he may not have always shown his full potential, it’s evident why Luke Skywalker was the chosen one to rebuild all that was destroyed in Order 66.

FAQs

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

As the Franchise winded down, Star Wars fans from every corner of the globe would gather in online forums and share their thoughts. With each installment, the conversations grow more profound.

It goes without saying, with every discussion, a series of questions would arise. These questions often plague the minds of the Star Wars fandom as they search endlessly for an answer.

So without further ado, let’s alleviate some of this stress as we answer one of the most commonly asked questions.

Is Luke more powerful than Rey?

Rey power vs. Luke power

This is quite easy to answer. Rey is in no way shape or form more powerful than Luke Skywalker.

Now don’t get me wrong, Rey is quite impressive. She was able to learn the skills of the Jedi in record time.

She could even use the Force techniques such as the Jedi mind trick with little to no actual training in the craft.

Rather she picked up the craft with a lot less training than it took the more traditional Jedi.

Luke, on the other hand, was just an absolute beast!

All throughout his life, he demonstrated restraint, dedication, peace, and the willingness to keep bettering himself.

Luke was even able to defeat the Dark Lord, Darth Vader, and return Anakin Skywalker to his roots on the light side of the Force.

In the end, when he had the opportunity to end his own flesh and blood, he refused. This wasn’t because of any emotional reasons as per the Jedi Code Luke didn’t harbor those.

He refused because he knew had he taken the shot, to have been the potential catalyst that would turn him into the new Darth Vader.

Conclusion

By the end of The Last Jedi, the skill level and strength of Luke Skywalker need not be questioned.

Of course, this does not include his father, Anakin Skywalker, as he relinquished his Jedi status.

Luke survived Order 66 after a valiant effort and then rebuilt the Jedi Order.

From there he never stopped bettering himself and looking over the New Jedi Order in his new role as Grand Master.

He was even able to add a new technique to his already awe-inspiring list. That technique is Force Projection.

Until the end, Grand Master Luke Skywalker perfectly embodied exactly what it means to be a Jedi. Proving that he is well-deserving of his place as one of the most powerful Jedi.
